I remember the bay bridge tunnel.Paid a toll and boom nothing but water as far as the eye can see.For me it was quite the exp.I have a strong phobia driving on or near massive water. You really took excellent photos. If you ever get tired of the trucken routine might I suggest photography, lol.
Have you been here yet? (pics from the road)

3rd down on the left looks like pilot mountain coming north out of Winston on 52 on the way up to climb fancy gap
one is crossing santee-cooper on 95 in sc
one looks like 65 north out of Louisville crossing the river into Indiana
think most of us recognize the bay bridge and deleware memorial and the really unfortunate ones of us recognize the gw as well lolLast edited: Jul 17, 2014

But anyway really cool effects on cool pix

1964 April 1st the Chesapeake Bay Bridge opened. I was driving for Carolina Trailways at that time. I had even driven across to the 1st island about a year before with a group of executives from the state and railroad. Then on the day that they opened the bridge-tunnel to the public, Trailways and Greyhound had about 150 buses out there to form and large convoy across and back.
Before the bridge-tunnel was opened, ferries were used to transport vehicles and people across the bay. The ride took abut 1 1/2 hr. Had a lot of fun on the ferries, catch a nap, play poker or maybe lucky with the opposite sex---LOL On the week-ends, they would put on extra ferries. The Navy was big business for the bus companies. On any given Friday, Trailways and Greyhound would send around 75 to 100 buses to the naval bases in and around Norfolk to load the sailors for week-end leave.Scream'n Hauler Thanks this.
