JB HUNT DCS new pay scale hits the drivers income

Jb hunt are the masters of bait & switch... There's no denying it period..

They emailed me every week a few years ago. I was just ignoring it until one day I thought I would have some fun.
They offered "great" pay of $55000/yr! I said, "Well, I was maki g that back in 1998 doing the same work, this is 2010!"
Then they switch topics to highlight their benefits. Not too bad but not worth taking a $25000/yr cut in wages.

Then I asked if they are willing to sign a wage contract that guaranteed me a set amount of annual pay for a 5 yr term.
I asked for $80k/yr over 5 yrs and no benefits(I can buy my own cheaper than they can offer benefits at a $25k pay cut).


The poor guy was amused but no deal. I just ended the call sayin "Good luck finding real 'professional' drivers."

I haven't gotten anymore emails or calls from JB Hunt. I guess they just aren't that serious about finding and keeping professional drivers. Oh well, no loss here.

JB Hunt uses a recruiting service. The recruiter is paid when the applicant shows up for orientation. Some recruiters lie, some bend the truth and some are a bit more honest. The applicant does not need to be hired in order for the recruiter to be paid, he only needs to show up. So you fill out an application over the phone and you are invited to orientation and now you think you are hired. Wrong! JB Hunt pays your way to orientation, you sign in and the background investigation begins. If you are not hired you must pay your own way home and now you also need to find a job since you probably won't be hired back to the driving job you just quit.

I worked for JB Hunt out of Chicago for 3 1/2 years. (4/8 - 10/11). In and out of the railyards to Wisconsin and back. I made good money. I was paid extra for drop and hook (no touch freight) and live loads and unloads. I was rearended by a drunk and retired. My average mileage pay (including the extra pay) was 54 cents per mile. The benefits were decent. The equipment was great.

If the wheels are turning it is probably a preventable. Someone called in and said I hit their car in stop and go traffic while merging from I55 north onto I94 west. Adjustor found no marks on my vehicle indicating contact but they paid her $4600.00. Adjustor said he never saw her car. The drivers step folds down to access the batteries on a Cascadia. I was given a preventable when the step gave way because of a missing bolt. (Improper inspection)

 

Lol my trainer l had who is related to the founder Mr. Hunt worked for them for a while driving and in dispatch. She told me that if a driver left for any reason even if they were the best employee with a perfect record she was forced to mark them as not eligible for rehire which screwed the driver when someone called for a reference. I would rather go on welfare then darken their door.

 

not only is jb hunt a the lowest income level they are fixed on safety to the point of being a " nanny " You are right about a good entry level job but that is it I have worked intermodal for them twice and left twice because of poor mileage pay and too few miles. They were honest and professional about everything they just won't let you run hard.

 

Mileage pay is roughly 50% of your pay the rest of your pay is accessory pay if you are local. Mind telling us were you did intermodal work for JB Hunt.

 

Strange, I've seen nothing but higher and higher pay as companies ae competing for drivers...Both companies I previously worked for, one you would call entry level, called me with their new pay plans which were both .40-.44cpm now, good but not more than I'm getting now...Surprised to hear about a cut...
