Can anyone give me some guidance here? We will be in the area next week and would like to park the truck somewhere and enjoy the beach for a day?? Does anyone know the best way to go about this other than renting a hotel room, which isn't totally off the table either!
Truck stops near South Padre Island, TX??

I hear it's really beautiful there. Hope you can post a pic or two.

There's a couple of REALLY small truck stops by Harlingen, but other than that Edinburg is your best bet for truck parking.
-
And then how far is it too the beach? It doesn't have to be South Padre either, his delivery is Tuesday in Hidalgo.....then we are free for the next day or two, ANY other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just want to go to the BEACH!

There are no "truck stops" but there are a couple small gas stations with truck parking. There's a J in Edinburgh that's about an hour and a half from SPI. after that in Harlingen (half an hour closer) there's a small station of the ed Carey (I believe) opposite side of the highway from Lowe's. Finally in Olmito, (closet you'll get) there's enough parking for about 5 trucks at the gas station where you exit for 511.
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
There a a few "fuel stops over in the Harlingen area. If you can drop your trailer in harlingen somewhere and not worry about it being there when you get back, you could bobtail over the causeway bridge. Finding tractor/trailer parking on the island might be difficult, even at any of the hotels.
Look north of harlingen at US-77 and TX 508 - Combes truck stopthenewtruckerswife Thanks this. -
ok, how about beach access in Brownsville? Is there any? Maybe that would be easier??
-
Generally, to acces SPI, you'd go down to Brownsville, then over and across the bridge to the southern tip of the SP island where all the beach activity is (hotels, beaches, etc). Been a while since I've been down there and there used to be a truck stop between Harlingen and Brownsville but that was 20 years ago,

The "beach access"in Brownsville is either dirty or industrial. There is a Wal-Mart in Port Isabel (other side of the bridge from SPI) where there are occasionally trucks parked, you might call them to find out if it's allowed.
