Thanks for all of that and the P.M... Got Melton on my list, in top 5. Liked what they had to say at the school but as i had mentioned before was looking for a perspective from the working guy's.

Melton is now on my short list for my next job. I'm moving back to NC so I was wondering if there are any Melton stations anywhere in NC, especially around the Raleigh area? I don't know if they would count my time as OTR since I have been dragging a van around the northeast covering 4 states at a time, but I'm home every day( I work nights). Good gig, but no benefits .Have to move so was looking into Melton and others.

Nothing in NC. Tulsa, Dallas, El Paso, Birmingham, Laredo and Masury Ohio. We do hire out of NC tho and seem to have decent freight.

I was told that Melton will send you home if your hair is too short for testing. How long does it have to be? I have researched 100 trucking companies and from drivers and websites Melton stands out the best. I referred a fellow truck driving school buddy to Melton and he said they are a great company so far. I will wait and grow out my hair if I have to.

It has to be long enough to satisfy the lab that does the drug testing. My hair was about an inch. One guy was let go for a lack of hair. They took leg hair from him but the lab wasn't satisfied.

Maybe should have came here first, to be honest you got me thinking your a little bit shady, i responded to your thread you started (rite sidebar) and i will say it again here. Y don"t you just call them and ask....simple...

Funny thing happened. I have been looking at this thread and lo and behold I get a post card from Melton saying how they're expanding their hiring area. I'm still good, being on the east coast. Now here's a question for everyone, who is better, melton or decker? I've also seen some other flat-bed companies out there and would appreciate any input from people who have had any experience with these companies, thanks.

If I missed any flatbed companies feel free to add any. Thanks -
i think roehl, maverick, and tmc are also flatbed.
some of the bigger guys have flatbed divisions too...ive seen warner, swift pulling flatbeds.
as far as hair i usually cut mine down to a size 2 on the clippers...they took my facial hair as i had a bit more there and all was ok. -
I think asking which is better would be different for everyone depending on who they drive for. Melton pays well. And miles are good. I talk to a lot of flatbedders all the time and most of us have the same complaints about what ever company and there are just as many of us that are happy where we are at. Its finding someplace your comfortable at. Melton is the only flatbed company I have driven for so I am.a little biased. I have been here over a year and have been pretty happy.hellpatrol Thanks this.

They will take hair anywhere from your body. A guy in my class they took it from his leg...if you don't shave them your fine...
