The mileage from the delivery to the tank wash to the next pickup. Anybody know if IRT pays you for those miles? I can't remember
-
I just wanted to find out a little more about IR. I'd like to stay on the west coast if possible but I understand that might not always happen.
Do you make decent miles/pay? Good equipment? APUs or idle time? All the usual questions.
Thanks.MidwestResident Thanks this. -
Been awhile since I've been on here. I'm on my way to Iowa right now and decided to get a motel in Missouri for the night since it doesn't deliver until Thursday. I've been with IRT for one month now and don't have any complaints. I've been at $1,000+ pretty much every week after taxes. I've been on the road since I started and will be taking my 1st bit of home time soon. I have to agree with Deadhead on every post so far. I've done Colorado to Indiana, Indiana to Missouri, Michigan to Wisconsin, Michigan to New York, New York to Iowa, Montana to Georgia, Georgia to Iowa, etc. Dispatch is easy to work and communicate with and Randy is a great guy. If you want to unload early, he will go out of his way to try and tweak your appointment with the customer to suit your needs. He checks on you and seems to care about your well being. All of the other dispatchers I've talked to seem friendly too. I have had a few hours wait time here and there, but nothing major. I think the longest was in Coopersville, Michigan. Got there for a 3am and got out at 9 or 10am. I am on paper logs, not elogs. 3000 to 4000 miles a week is what I get. The loads come up on my QUALCOMM and I accept them. I don't call in requesting to go here or there or anything like that. If I get within 4 or 5 hours away from a delivery point and haven't received a pre-planned load assignment yet, I call dispatch and ask for one. When I get off the phone one usually pops up within an hour or so. My most recent load was from Montana. I came out of New York to La Mars, Iowa with a load to the Blue Bunny Ice Cream plant. After that they dead headed me 955 miles to Great Falls, Montana. I picked up vegetable oil and took it 2072 miles to Bowersville, Georgia. I actually got to Georgia a day and a half early. No biggie. Instead of having to wait, dispatch had me switch trailers with another guy and I am taking his canola oil to Iowa. Turned and burned in Georgia and still going strong. The guy they switched me with had to get some work done on his truck after delivering the load I brought down from Montana. Anyway, hope all is well with everyone. Be safe.
HotH2o and Deadhead75 Thank this. -
what do you mean by "good equipment?"
I think there are like 2 truck in the company who have APU's..the APU discussion has been beat to death (by me) -
yes
unless the tank-wash is en-route (obviously)Deadhead75 Thanks this. -
Been closely comparing IRT with Bynum and I'm still coming back to IRT. Food grade is very competitive and between the two Bynum is clearly losing
Deadhead75 and The Challenger Thank this.
