Just did a inframe on my cummins m11 . Had head done and remand injectors . Drove about 30 miles climbing hill and heard slite ticking from engine then smoke real bad , so bad someone call fire department . Pull over and had towed to my place . No water in oil , was dripping oil or diesel from turbo or both . My mechanic ( brother in law ) said he thinks it's a blown head gasket . Does this make any sense .
Looking for advice not sure he knows what he's doing
Engine smoking not water

Pull ex. man. just to ck. for oil out of ex.port to be sure all you need to replace is turbo?
Haulindave Thanks this. -
Can you explain better . Pull exhaust man . There is a main oil line going to turbo . Oil out of exhaust port ? Thanks I'm not a mechanic . So you think it's the turbo , is that what your saying .baha Thanks this.

sounds like a broken injector tip, aslong as it is diesel out of the exhaust, would explain ticking, oil wouldn't explain ticking unless it broke a valve or something, most likely injector

Sorry if you pull the ex. man. you can l see if one of the ex. ports are wet with fuel or oil, turbo will be wet with oil on intake side or ex. side you will find out before having to pull man. so best to start by pulling clamp at ex. side of turbo an look into ex.pipe with light for oil?

Well took engine apart till I new what happened and found number one cylinder basically seized even though the others were still moving it . Piston has scratch all up and down it . Rings look melted in . Oiler at bottom of cylinder bent and doesn't even look like oil was going though it or maybe not even though the hole that goes to it . My mechanic doesn't know what happened ? Hmmmm

I'm thinking careless pulling the liner, piston and rod out. Which is fine because after inspection that should have been seen when all six were replaced. Coulda happened going in but still no need in forcing. course I put my cooling nozzles in last. Not to stir the pot but the entire oiling system is full of metal now
baha and Haulindave Thank this. -
how can u clean the oiling system out .
-
The right way is a complete teardown and vatt the block. At bare minimum I would pull the oil cooler and wash it out as well as all the piston cooling nozzles and flush the oil galley in the block. Any minute now someone is gonna say that's what filters are for. Well the filter is the last place oil goes before returning to the pan. Nothing puts metal in the pan like a galded piston.

My mechanic says he didn't break cooling nozzle when he took it out and says there is know way you can see if it's getting hit before running it . He says he put together right and takes no responsibly for its failure .
