So was I right? The old truck stop by Americana and OBT that Ace wrecker bought and sold, cause technically both Orlando truckstops are on the east side of OBT and the scale is on the north side of the one still in operation. At the one still open, Truckers Paradise, I saw a guy towing a boat come in there one rainy night and the hole in the lot was so deep, the boat floated .<--Not a trucker story, I saw it with my own eyes.

Yup forty--twas a 76 back then--actually closed 4 a while after the TA merger-- Now imagine it out in the woods??Holden was pretty much the end of the world--lol& didn't go west of 441 Americana was a grove--Oak ridge also ended on east side of 441(which btw--was how the locals referred to it--because back then the Orlando city limit was Michigan--and officially it was only OBT inside the city--it the was just 441(technically 441/17/92)only T/L was at 528(now sand lake)from Kaley to Kissimmee---lol.....oh&the speed limit went back up to 70 just south of the ball......:D

I went to Oak ridge High School in the early 90's. I can't even imagine that area as rural and not filled with degenerates.

When I decided to get off the road for a short time, I drove on weekends hauling produce and frozen to the Meijer stores in South Bend. I always stopped at this truck stop on Sunday morning for breakfast. They had great food and the people were friendly. Even though they have a small lot, I always found a place to park. Is it still open?

How many of yall remember the old silver bullet dinners (big ole stainless steel buildings) in the north east off most highways. Real popular in Jersey, Pa and NY. Open 24hrs and usually enough room for 5-10 trucks to get into. you could pop in for a cup of coffee or eat like a king and zip right back out onto the HWY. Now your lucky to find an empty lot with gravel to pull into and eat a PBJ sandwich without getting a ticket up there

Yeah, and just in case they have been nice enough to put those little maze entrance openings in all the mall and supermarket parking lots so you cant get a big truck in there to park on the outer lot anymore.

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

I haven't been thru there in @ 3 years now but the the Ambest T/S on I44/US69 in Big Cabin, Ok had full service fueling. They pumped your fuel and did a pretty good job or the windows too.
