FYI
POMPANO BEACH FL...updated July 2013
Good/FREE/SAFE rest area for anyone passing Pompano/Deerfield/East Fort Lauderdale (Floor Decor and Walmart and Golden Corral Buffet
Off i95/atlantic blvd exit, just west about a mile. On the left, There is a great area to park and rest. Has a great walmart, burger king and some other restaurants. Rover security. Also there are some huge tile distributors on the left of the walmart plaza that are always empty at night, also with roving security. 90% empty and lotsa safe parking. I know South Fl is horrible with safe and secure parking for truckers. Anything i can help, i will.
Google this address: 1914 W Atlantic Blvd Pompano Beach, FL 33069. Behind Floor and Decor there will also be crates and pallets, usually free, just ask the recieving if you need them. * I did alot of deliveries for this company in 2011 till this Jan 2013 so im very sure about this.
Im a local that has driver all over Fort Lauderdale and Miami, so i wil keep revising this posting when i can.
**I HAVE REPOSTED THIS MESSAGE IN "TRUCKSTOPS" This posting will not be updated***Check in "Truckstops" for my updates for South FL Rest Areas
*great rest location/south fl/broward county* free

If you have a reefer, you can also get away with parking at the Pampano Beach Farmer's Market. Had a broker turn me on to that one.

Yeah GOOD LUCK with that--market has CHANGED considerably--and mostly locals parkin there--now that it is bascally unattended--and jus about anyone parks there nowadays--worth a shot but do not rely on it

Unfortunately, there really aren't any places in or around FTL. We've tried Walmarts & Home Depot and they say no. Also called the Agricultural Farmer's Market on Atlantic Blvd Pompano and was told that although some park there "under their own risk", it's not advised because of theft there and one's that do stay in their truck to sleep. Only place would be the 595 truck stop at $15/day, unless you fill up then one night would be free, I believe. Not many options, but if anyone DOES find somewhere around Fort Lauderdale area, please post. Thanks!
