So I need opinions please!!
Do I take the state's money grant and go to ACE Training School in Byram, MS train there, graduate without any financial commitments or contracts??
or do I go to the KLLM driving school in Richland, MS (accredited with Hinds CC) sign a 12 month contract with them for the school tuition??
Apparently I will get the same place either way:
Trained
Licensed
Still ride with a trainer 4-6 weeks
The ? is with or without commitment and loan?
Do companies treat you differently? Anyone been to either of these places for Training?
Or do I just make the best financial decision for myself and everything else should fall in place?
Free School thru state or Free school with 12 month commitment??

This is a no brainer, if you go through KLLM, they will own you for the next year after training you. If you go with the state program, you won't owe anybody anything. Being someone elses slave is not a good way to go to get your license.

Unless the company sponsored school is absolutely the only option that you have , you are gonna best much better off taking the grant and going to the school in Byram Ms. You'll have a much broader selection of companies to choose from too.

Go through the state. Starting off at CRST with my license allowed me to leave after 7 months. I don't know why it took me that long to wake up though.

Go to ACE Training School & get the endorsements while there. Graduate, then go make some good money with those endorsements. Get TWIC & a passport also. KLLM does a lot of Tyson loads; guess which company gets the junk loads, Tyson trucks or KLLM trucks. If you really want to pull reefers, go to ACE Training School then hire on with Tyson Foods. Tyson has excellent trucks that run 70 mph and good benefits.

Yes, like Tyson Foods or SVTN just to name a couple.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.

State school most definitely! If you pick a company and it sucks you can move on without obligation. You take company sponsored training and it goes south they try to get you for abandoning the truck or tack some bs fees on you. If you bail before you finish your obligation they will come after you for the price of tuition and then some. Don't do it!!!

thanks for all the replies!! I have an orientation for the state funds set up for Thursday afternoon now. Free is way better than "free with commitment"!!
Scoots, Tonythetruckerdude and Chinatown Thank this.
