See below.I agree with the posters before me who opined that runnin' I-5 through three states would satisfy the OTR requirements pertaining to experience.

It has it's moments, especially runnin' at night. More lonely for me than boring.When runnin' US 97 ---> Hwy 58 durin' the summer months keep an eye out for vacationers/campers. Their attention isn't always on the road.
Mileage wise both routes, I-5 & 97 ---> 58 are 'bout the same.

Small town on US 97 in California just before the Oregon border called Doris, ....
watch your speed through there. It's a curvy road

If not for that restaurant, runnin' US 97 to Hwy 58 would be perfect. As it is, it's the perfect excuse to run I-5 straight through.Lack of a tax rebate on fuel in Oregon kinda pinches when feedin' the Big truck. And how much is the road use tax in Oregon? Last I recall it was 14.5 cents a mile.

If y'all like olives, --- green, ripe or inbetwixt, stop in Corning California --- just south of Redding. "Olive City". They have tasting rooms with all kinds of different olives.

the mileage is the same, but bypassing the 4 passes in southern oregon will cut you a lot of time if you are heavier then 65k as far as fuel tax rebates, my company takes care of the paperwork..... One of the benefits of being a company driver

There certainly are worse roads to be trucking over. If the outfit you are going to pays well, (.04 MORE per mile may be good, or may be terrible, depending on what you are making now,) it sounds like a pretty good deal. After all you're in this for the bucks, not for the scenery. And having an APU and paper logs is certainly a couple of large +s. As far as no QC, that can sort of be a two edged sword.

I have not been on the road since March last year...I have only 3 mos in the last 3 years..two years of experience before then, so not many companies are willing to hire me right now..mostly mega's...the CA/OR/WA outfit is here in my town, Yuba City, CA. They are starting me @ .36 cpm... the mega's, ie Western X offered .32... and they are in L.A... 5.5 hrs away...so I'm going to go for the local outfit, Legend Transportation, they have around 100 Company drivers and around 100 O/O.

Checked out Legend's CSA score...A lot ofHOS violations!! CSA score is high for this, they are using paper logs, so either that are pushing the drivers to run illegal or they have some dumb drivers...need to get to the bottom of this before I hit on...
What is your guys take on this?

That's the whole point of using paper logs in 2014 isn't it? High score greatly increases the chance you'll be pulled in for inspection. Try talking to drivers who work there.
