"Schneider, pull around the building into slot 'B', bring license, med card, registration and BOL to the office." Hmmm... OK.... Open the cab door, and was greeted by Californias finest- "How's your stress level?' (Curious, I thought) "Well, it increased about a minute ago..."
In the office I'm greeted with "Schneider, how's your health?" (Did I look sick crossing the scales?...I needed a shower, was trying to get to the OC before the DOT 30 minute clock ticked down) "Been having heart trouble, had a stress test lately?" (Hmm, the Border Patrol is in charge of day care in the western US, Did the gov't put the Highway Patrol in charge of Obamacares cardiac services??)
"What's the problem, I'm a little concerned now?" I asked. Of course I received another question. "Were you passed on the left in the empty lane when you crossed the scales?" Officer #2 asked. I told them a little 12' Isuzu-like COE grocery hauler passed me. Seems he's set off the radiation detector! Even had it narrowed down to the isotope! A driver in the sleeper of another truck had set one off before. Nice to know they're that sensitive!
...got pulled at the Banning, CA scale......Health care?

When I hauled clay in a dry bulk tanker, I used to set those things off all the time.

Seriously speaking, it would NOT surprise me if the D.O.T. inspectors or highway patrol officers did random blood pressure tests at the weight scales, truck stops, or rest areas. SADLY & UNFORTUNATELY, this would SERIOUSLY put a lot of truck drivers out of service, (OOS), RIGHT THEN & THERE.
Human beings, as a rule, CANNOT keep their blood pressure in check when they are under a lot of pressure or under some MONUMENTAL stress. -
For a new guy, what does this mean??
