It all has to do with how their confuser program is set up. Programs are stupid and can only do what there written to do. You'll notice that there are no adults there, after 5 to deal with any "unforseen problems". I got a call one night from a DM, pissed at me cause I told them I was unplugging the qualcomm. Kept getting a reefer problem message and was on a dry load. Tried to read me the riot act, and I just told him, fix the problem or buzz off. Not going to do a 10, and listen to this thing go off every hour. Safety hazard... he shut up.... also put it in writing. Was fixed by the time I woke and never heard a thing about it.

Did some cranky miles today. 750

I've never had a problem avoiding a late load under those circumstances. I withhold my 001 all the time until things are just how I want it. If I know I can't make OTP or OTR I discuss it with my DM and point out the problem and tell her what I CAN do. Then tell her if that is acceptable to them and they still want me to do it I will send a 001. She just notes it in the computer and I've never gotten a service failure for something like that.

I am home! Today was a long day. I've been parked for about an hour. Got up at 0345 CT to get over and deliver to Walmart. That took a couple hours but was uneventful. The office manager recognized me and was staring me down while I was checking out! LOL. I was on good behavior today though. After I was empty my DM managed to get me some busy work and got me an extra 400 miles and a little closer to home to shorten my deadhead. I was told to take my empty from Macclenny all the way down to Auburndale and drop it at Coke. So I topped the reefer and got a washout. The guards there remembered my name! Nice girls. After dropping my empty I got to bobtail all the way up to Valdosta to recover a trailer from a wrecker yard. My jaw nearly fell off when I did a walkaround. A completely brand new sub frame and four new tires. I asked the guy what the story was and this apparently was an organ donor trailer. A few night ago one of our trailers was towed in and they had to chain the axle up to get it there. No telling what had happened, but it was a loaded trailer and someone was sent out to get the trailer I have now and it was brought in and they Frankensteined the whole tandem setup onto the loaded trailer. And then my trailer got repaired and I was sent to get it today. It's a little beat up, but it's a 2011. It pulls nice and the landing gear is easy. Unlike the awful 2010 I just dumped in Auburndale. After I grabbed the trailer in Valdosta I was free to PC home. I will be here til Monday. My oldest kiddo turns 4 on Monday and we are having a party this weekend.

I've been known on a couple of occasions to turn the reefer off while under a temp controlled load when I get tired of weekend dispatch ignoring. Few things say Hey look at me! faster than shutting down a Tyson load. I don't let the product go out of temp and there could be serious consequences for doing that, but hey, I do what works.

I'm happy with the new dispatch system. My DM is currently training her alternate and one of my night dispatchers was also trained by my DM. I actually met her in Olathe and she remembers me. :) Her alternate will be a new guy who starts Monday but I don't know anything other than his name. I'm so glad I've got a night dispatcher I like and who is great about trying to be quick to answer messages and get your PO numbers and stuff. Some of the night and weekend people I have no use for except my own twisted entertainment by trying to make their day more difficult. But 3 out of 4 are people I willingly behave for and it makes for more efficient work and better miles!

Glad to know that you are home, honeybadger. Enjoy, have a great time with your little guy on his birthday!

wulfman, how are you doing? I know there are no words for losing someone you love. You're still in my prayers.

The King came close today on the "cranky miles" also. It all depends, dennisroc. I think Pete's truck is governed at 75, The King's is at 70....Panhandle, I don't remember what yours is? It makes a difference what part of the country you are in, if it's just a day of driving or if you have a pick up or delivery, traffic and construction, paper logs or elogs ....all those things will determine your day.

Pete, I have decided there is no such thing as real Wisconsin cheese. You haul it out to California, pick up another load of cheese there, drive it around the country and take it back to Wisconsin. The King has brought several loads of cheese to Wisconsin,(he was in Green Bay last night), delivers it, picks up more cheese(probably what you bring back from California), rides it around the country, and delivers it back to wherever he picked it up in the first place. Wisconsin is just "adopting" cheese from other states and giving it a new name! :biggrin_2559:

Thanks for that, passport. Actually, when I saw you were coming here I was curious if it was Austin and if so, maybe I could give you whatever local information you might want to get food or a faster way around...etc..etc. The town names are good too. This tracking thing I'm doing is VERY unscientific and probably won't tell me much I don't know, but the "stat keeper" in me does these things from time to time.

Thanks, jaso. As written above I'm just horsing around in a way. I don't mean to have everyone post routes just to keep me quiet (lol). The info is appreciated though!

If anyone IS coming this way, the summer has finally gotten warm. We are just getting into the 100-degree days. Oh, what fun it is. I'm seriously thinking about moving to Asheville, NC in the next couple of years or so and saying good-bye to the Texas heat. It was easy when I was 20, but now it's just hot.

HTQ, great suggestion on the trucking route sites. I have already been playing around with the site you mentioned before, truckmiles.com. :yes2557:

Cranky, any thoughts on the fire sale the Red Sox had before the trade deadline? I don't think I've ever seen the Sox do that before. Wow.

Strange, but I think I understand. I just posted and it said a Mod has to look it over before it will be visible to the peeps. Due to a site I posted, maybe?
