I was hit yesterday by a distracted, probably texting driver.

On my way back to the yard to park the truck and go home. I was running a good hour and a half early, so I was looking forward to a bit more time to relax and rest up. I made it less than a mile from the yard when someone crossed three lanes of traffic, over the center line of the undivided road and slammed in to the front, driver's side of my truck right at the steer wheel almost head-on at 45-50mph. The car is going to be a write-off, obviously, but the impact is probably going to total the truck as well. Knocked the steer axle completely off of the suspension and I barely managed to stop the truck before hitting oncoming traffic. I was taken to the hospital and examined, released without any significant injuries. The other driver was taken away incapacitated but conscious with what I'm told was a broken leg. She's extremely lucky she survived.

Fine so far, just a bit stiff!

I liked it. It didn't have the greatest range, but it ran really quiet and smooth. I couldn't shift worth a #### at first because I got used to doing it by sound, but I got to doing it just by feel pretty quick. The account I'm on asked specifically for natural gas trucks, so I'll probably get another one and I don't mind at all.

It says on the accident report that she claimed she was reaching for her phone after she dropped it. My question is why she was holding it in the first place, obviously. Once she's well enough to disclose her insurance info, I'm sure I'll have a few words for them concerning missed work and the ER visit.

I'm extremely happy you are ok. And VERY glad the officers were on the spot to find the correct vehicle at fault.

God's speed to a quick and full recovery.

Lucky for you is was a car that hit you, you will have a much better chance of getting down time, lost work and payment for injuries than if it was an other truck,,

She was cited for left of center with a note that it was due to distraction by communication device.

When will these kids learn, they should take away their cell phone or driving privileges for a certain amount of time for using a phone while driving. At least talking on speaker or using hands free they can keep their eyes on the road(but I don't recommend this either for them), but all this posting on facebook, instagram, is an addiction of sorts and needs to be addressed by the community as such.
