I am a PA O/G worker that has experience tanking and hydro-vacing. Just got off the phone with a man looking to hire crude haulers in Corpus Christi. The move from PA to TX would be a big jump. I'm used to making 70k + here in PA. Living expenses have been outrageous since the boom. Guess what I want to know is, can you enjoy life comfortable on 80k + in Corpus Christi TX? What is the cost of living like?

80k is a lot for people here in texas. You could live very comfortable in Dallas, TX with 50 a year. Sorry I can't answer of how it is in corpus. But just giving my opinion

Oh. Let me mention that other parts in texas are outrageous because of the oil boom like Midland/odessa area down to San angelo and east to Pecos. That general area is very high.

does $600/month on a 3 bedroom home rent sound right? I know since our boom, two bedroom apartments go a grand or better. Really liked Texas when I was an OTR driver. Lots for me to consider.

I think that's good deal, most homes for rent in San Antonio go for 1k plus. ..depending on location...

You can get a decent idea of rental prices from Craigslist. From what I'm told, the Corpus area is reasonable. I'm not sure I would make the move though if you are doing 70k now. You might gain a little, but I don't think you'll gain all that much. If you want to move anyway? The Corpus area would be of my 1st choices.

Glenn should be along... he lives in Corpus and he can give you the scoop.

Man SA getting high. When I find a deal always something wrong either place is ghetto or location sucks. Someone coming alone will be fine but with family can get expensive finding place to live.

It's actually cheaper to buy in San Antonio then it is too rent on the North Side of San Antonio. Now there are Gem's that you can easily find if you got to Converse TX or You go into the South End of Texas where its cheap in areas of the SE, E and Far North East.... Though they are catching on and rising prices; in the Far NE Schratz and Converse. If you can buy and hold for 5+ Years you should see a 25%-35% return on your investment that's $37.5K to $52.5K

Now this is what most people won't tell you is that Corpus Christi is in the Valley. Thus if you wan't good cheap prices you want to Move between there and Alice TX. If I were as single guy and I moved to that area; I would find either a girlfriend or a buy a 1 acre lot and put a trailer on it.

If I had a family I would move them to Corpus Christi also :) just to get some resemblance of City... Then again I'm a Town/City Slicker lol.... GL Man
