I don't know about them testing your llama! Does you llama speak, read and write English?![]()
You know, there are a lot of reasons these outfits send people home. Sometimes they fail the pee test, but the results don't come back right away. Sometimes they can't pass their DOT physical. Sometimes they fail the background checks. They may show a driver's license, or even a CDL, but when the company checks, they find the license suspended or revoked. And of course, there are a percentage of just about every class, (and every orientation, for that matter,) where the prospective driver just decides this is not the job/career for them, so they leave.
YOU ARE STRESSING YOURSELF UNNECESSARILY HERE! Seriously!
man my nerves are getting the best of me.

Feeling really nervous only means that you want to do your best and that you care. Once you start the testing process, your fears will be gone. I promise!!
John's Girl Thanks this. -
I agree what the otners are saying. .. stay positive and believe in yourself. ..
Dont believe us.... tie your shoes...... at one time you thougnt you would never get that and now you dont even think about it or remember it ever being hard...John's Girl Thanks this. -
Correct. I was nervous until I actually got up in the seat and started down the road. At that point, all the training kicks in like instinct and confidence takes over.

Llama auto correct... I just know crap happens. Just got 5 mentally prepare.
-
Just curious is the training going good for you, are you learning anything and how is the backing going I wish you luck and maybe I see you around on the yard gl

Just take it slow and careful, you basically only fail by hitting something, putting the trailer wheels up a curb by hurrying, etc. There's no penalty for being a slowpoke though. Same thing holds for when they cut you loose in your own truck about 9 days from now, you'll be nervous then too. Just avoid hurrying and stressing out as much as possible, it gets way easier once you get some reps.

When I just got my CDL with about 18 hours behind the wheel I tried Schneider. I washed out week one. I had three trainers tell me I didn't know what I was doing and I washed out week one as a result. I got on with another mega that paid a little less but actually worked with me. A little over a year later and I make as much much as those trainers do with a respectable company... Still not 100% sure what I'm doing but I'm doing it... nothing DOT reportable to date- 180,000 miles. Bottom line... Schneider uses fear and intimidation to evaluate, not train drivers. From what I hear about them, that's just a prelude to the fear and intimidation used by their dispatchers... generally when justifying cheating drivers out of their promised bonus or hometime. Schneider runs like a machine... They literally hire 30 people every week and maybe 3 of them are there longer than 60 days. I wish you luck but whatever happens don't take it too seriously- sometimes we put more pressure on ourselves than other people do... and really for all the bravado Schneider is a decent starter company but pretty mediocre in the grand scheme of things.
TL;DR Mega carrier is mega. Welcome to the wonderful world of OTR, give it a few months and the fear will be replaced by warm-fuzzy cynicism and sarcasm.Last edited: Aug 11, 2014
