Schneider also has a few flatbed divisions.
Schneider puts you through a private CDL school.
They will also put you in their tanker division right out of school & will make some big money there.

    PikesPeak and harlycharly55 Thank this.

TMC hires new drivers, but I think you need your CDL first. I think Melton is the same.

Depends on your definition of "better". The training methods are different. Prime is OJT; you are out on the road with an instructor for typically 4-6 weeks. Swift Academy is a traditional 3 week on-premises school. Both put you out with a trainer/mentor for a couple months after you get your CDL.

I don't know the current pay scales for flatbed, but historically, Prime has paid better. Their trucks have APUs and inverters; Swift's trucks don't.

I also see a LOT more Prime flatbeds than Swift flatbeds.

Another option is to go through Swift Academy, then jump to another company that hires new CDL grads. No commitment to work for Swift, but you'll have to repay the school loan at the rate of $75/week for 52 weeks. If you stay in the hotel, then there's a separate weekly payment for a couple of months. Your new company may well make those payments for you.

Disclaimer: I went to Swift Academy, and have been driving for Swift for ~1 year.
