Hey everybody. My name is Lucas, I'm from Atlanta. Just wanted to introduce myself & say thanks in advance for all the help I'm sure I will receive. I am 28 & looking to get into trucking. It runs in my blood, just never thought to do it until now haha . Looking to find a good school right now & start making my dream a reality.

Atlanta is an excellent location for the best trucking companies around.
Here's a few that hire new CDL grads and you can expect to make $50K-$65K right out of the gate with them.
Tyson Foods
Tidewater Transit
CTL Transportation
Superior Carriers
Schneider Bulk
Trimac Transportation(only hire from certain schools)
SVTN -
Thank you so much Chinatown, I appreciate the help. I've been looking at a couple different companies, but unless a miracle happens, I'm going to need company sponsored schooling.

Millis Transfer has a great school. Youll need to pay for the first little bit but in comparison, its nothing compared to what the total cost is. Have you checked with your local Employment office and asked about WIA? Its a grant program that will assist in you getting a CDL course paid for.

I have looked into WIA, unfortunately I don't qualify. After snooping around this board lol, I have looked into Millis Transfer. They seem like an awesome company, & I think they would probably be best for my situation. I did apply to them, & I'm waiting to hear back on my approval. I hope I can get in.

Don't wait to long, I didn't receive call back from them right away. I had to call them after 5 days before I found out if was accepted.
-
Last time I had talked to them was Friday, & she told me to call Alice back tomorrow. So I plan on calling her back bright & early lol. I am very excited for this opportunity & would love to get hired on with a good company.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Millis Transfer is a great choice.
JBS Carriers hires in Atlanta, at least by their website, and they pay for private CDL school at Roadmaster.
Schneider also pays for private CDL school and will put you in their tanker division, Schneider Bulk, for some really good paychecks.
Two other options, will take more time to get started though, are :
Goodwill Industries - pays for CDL school, free to you.
Hope Grant - apply at unemployment office - pays for CDL school out of GA lottery proceeds.
The quickest way to get started is go with Millis Transfer or Schneider Bulk, JBS Carriers. -
The quicker the better for sure haha. Spoke to Alice today, just awaiting to hear back from a couple jobs for employment verification. Hope they hurry, I want to start as soon as possible.
