But about a year and a half ago, when I got my cdl, I filled out an application for an apprentice program with the International Union of Operating Engineers. Out of the blue they called me and said that a guy who was in the program had to be let go because of poor attendance so if I wanted his spot I was next on the list. So I said yes, and start at 0700 Monday morning! -
DevilDog79, JohnBoy and massparanoia Thank this.

Sitting here at Cubby's fuel stop in Gothenburg Nebraska waiting to get these 2 coolers off. Of course it's a total surprise that I showed up Sunday night to deliver them, it was also a surprise this morning when I went inside to check in with some type of decision maker. He was just as clueless as the folks from last night. We are working on it though, I'm sure you all know how I roll, I did my job, now I got everyone else involved, including the non English speaking janitor.
Update::::janitor just informed me in his best English the forklift will be here in 15 minutes.Lonesome Thanks this. -
Let me throw out an update on my trainee Brandon. He's doing fine, slowly but fine, and that's by my design. I refuse to have him, with nothing more then CDL school under his belt pick up any bad habits. This is a work in progress, I've found that if he keeps it under 65 his perception is much better, his reaction times are much better. He's 25, young and listens, he has stamina, too much at times. I've had to tell him after driving 450 miles straight to stop the truck so I can go potty. Right now with our schedule and where we need to be in the morning I will be able to reset as we continue on. He will be able to get one starting tonight when we get to SLC. So far so good. I want to see the kid succeed, and when he does it'll be because of his attitude.
DevilDog79, jungHo, The Challenger and 2 others Thank this. -
