Got a call from my ICA this morning. Said the due to my child support (she referred to it as a "garnishment"), that they are permanently turning off all advances. Now, I don't use advances much at all. But it is something I like to have at my disposal. My patience with this company is running thin.
No more advances

Sounds like your child support is more than they are planning on paying you in a week. Just a thought
8thnote Thanks this. -
Well they did reduce amount possible not long ago. Less than tactful way to inform you.
-
I was told it applied to anyone with any type of garnishment

Advances for "personal" use is, and always has been silly in my book. I have my own money in the form of a Debit card should I need something.
However; I DO like to take advances for expenses that are the companies responsibility---ie. Tolls, Scales, Oil, Coolant etc...
Stuff that would be reimbursed if I used my own money. I figure out what I will need BEFORE I fuel, and type in the exact amount at the pump (rounded to the nearest dollar anyway) that I will need, and pay for stuff with the companies cash. Turn in receipts, and it all evens out---I owe them nothing, they owe me nothing.
Never had my check garnished for anything, so I know nothing on that subject.briarhopper Thanks this. -
My avail amount has never changed and I've never been in the red. She did admit that I was supposed to be told a while ago but she dropped the ball

The problem I have is that they label my child support as a garnishment. It gives it a negative connotation.

Catchall phrase that payroll uses. Not sure how else they would classify any number of other payments than direct deposits? I' m hard pressed to think its personal. But you should have the mechanism in place to question the terminology.

I like my advance, not sure why it's bad to use for personal use?
I take out the cash and get groceries, drinks, work supplies, tolls, etc. that way I don't have a ton of random charges on my bank account. -
If your a contractor, it's none of their business if you owe child support, you are your employee so how can the control you money like that?
NavigatorWife Thanks this.
