The CBT can be knocked out rather quickly. It will take 3-4 hours. I had mine completed in one session. I just wasn't leaving til I was done.

Generally nothing... cost of doing business. On very long deadheads I've been offered anywhere from 50-CPM to $1.50 per mile.

Another question as I have seen different amounts of things said here and there if someone could clarify I would be appreciative. So assuming I pass everything and the time comes when I am soloing out what am I required to purchase? At first I just heard load locks and pad lock set but then I also heard like 1000 bucks worth of stuff. I plan on going into the company side and am just trying to figure out how much it will cost me before I can get rolling. Also is there a large difference between cost to get rolling reefer vs fb? I was hoping to get into fb but figured tarps and all would cost a lot and I won't have much until I'm rolling as my crappy job dosent pay well.....thanks again

The flatbed guys could answer their total costs better, but it's around $2000 - you own all of the tarps, chains, straps, binders, etc - you can take them with you or sell them back at the used rate if you decide to leave. It's all taken out in reasonable weekly payments. Reefer side... 4 load locks, Abloy lock set, this time of year everyone needs to put a minimum chain set on board. You should also have a pulp thermometer, tire pressure gage, Rand McNally Motor Carriers Atlas (it's very helpful compared to just a GPS) - maybe $400. Again, it's your property. A CB is not required, but sure beats spending hours waiting in a truckers lounge to be informed you're unloaded... required some places to check-in/out, get real time traffic conditions. Previously mentioned GPS helps, but isn't required - make sure it's truck-specific.

Thank you ironpony. So about 400 minimum then. I can pick up a cb from my shop I work at for a lot less than I can buy one retail any particular brand or model you guys like to use? And are truck pre wired for cb's or do I need an antenna also. And as far as GPS goes do you mean truck specific as far as tractors in general or model of tractor specific? I'm guessing just specific to big rigs as I'm sure there are routes car GPS will send you which you can't go.... Thanks again for the help I'm hoping to be in sprimo in about 6 weeks
