Lots of questions....Where to start!
1. Training starts at 0525. There is a bus that leaves the hotel PROMPTLY at 0525.
2. My son, team mate, and I never rode together until after our training was done. You will be assigned different training engineers when you do your on the road training. Training as a team is at the end of regular training and is based on schedules and trip planning for teams. Very informative!
3. You can set whatever schedule works for you. Many teams prefer 4-4 because when they switch they have no problems finding parking and empty showers so it's a good time to switch. My son and I do 7 to 7 but thats because he hates driving during daylight hours.
4. No shorts during training but once training is done yes you can
5. You will be able to shower and eat while your with your training engineer. They are there to teach you how to live on the road and also how to address issues you might have on the road.
6. Yes they run air if it's over 70 degrees.
7. I drive 8-9 hours a day. If you stay at 8:45 a day you never need a restart because you'll be around 70 hours in 8 days. Time is critical and you'll figure out quick every minute counts.
8. Home time after training is up to you. We were issued our truck in California right after training and ran for a week before we went home. We were home 5 days but it's really up to how much time you think you need.
9. We took a greyhound but if I had to do it again I would have driven.
Hope that helps! You'll have a good time and learn a ton!

Thank u so much for all the info! U have helped a lot! If all goes well our orientation starts November 10th but we were told by two of our recruiters great we will train as a team with a trainer for 7 days, trainer will sleep in hotel n we sleep in truck. Yeah we want to drive in to Indianapolis not ride a bus. We were told we would get about 3 days home after training before our first load then out 2-3 weeks

Dcwteamtrucking, that is how my husband and I trained. We went with a trainer for our team training and at night, he slept in a motel and we stayed in the truck. Our trainer was on a dedicated route delivering tires, so he always knew where his stops would be and what motels he could stay in. It was nice for us to stay in the truck because it gave us a real idea of what it would be like "living" in the truck. Funny story. When we were coming back, we had a backhaul from Conagra in Kansas I believe. (It was 7 years ago, so I don't remember the exact town.) I do remember they did not have any truck stops in the town with parking. We ended up parking in the parking lot of a strip club for the night! The hotel was about a block down so the trainer just walked to it. It was pretty funny because we could hear the music from the truck, but not loud enough that we couldn't sleep!

Hello to all and thank you to all for your contributions. We are recent CDL school graduates and we are thinking about applying at Schneider as a team. We would like to confirm the process of orientation for teams. Do we understand correctly that during the 2nd wk. of training that my wife and I will train together as a team on the training engineer truck? Please forgive us for asking this again. It's just that we are getting conflicting information from the recruiter about this. The recruiter is saying that we will separate during this 7 day period. Any and all replies are greatly appreciated.

im currently in a local driving school and take my CDL test in morning then 2 weeks of more training. Schneider has already got a spot for me and I have already signed the waiver. Schneider is gonna pay my school and then I pay them back. Was my only option. Not to crazy about the hair testing thing since hair test is not DOT required. And that Schneider doesn't do any background checks till day 1 of orientation in which they can and will send u home if it all doesn't check out. But other than that they seem like a pretty decent company just hope after I get there they say of you got a seat belt ticket few years ago you forgot to mention in your app and send me home. I have other options tho if needed. GL and seem like you will do well.

So Warhippy-
All in all, would you recommend Schneider to all of us Vets? Looking to start out above the bottom but would like to stay with a company more than a year before looking at the other pastures.
Thanks for your time!

I think it would depend on if they have a TE that will take on a husband and wife. I know they will train you together if they have a TE available that will do it. My husband and I did our OTR together with a trainer at Schneider.

TracyN thank you. That's what we are hoping we can do.

I think it may depend on where you do your orientation at. When I went through orientation in Fontana with warhippy, my TE was going to train a husband/wife team during week 2. Unfortunately the wife did not make it pass week 1. She was offered to come back the following week but she said no. So there was 3 of us in the truck during week 2. The TE I had always wanted to do teams training. He was a very good trainer.

Thank you softail for the reply. I am a little worried about my wife and her backing. Hopefully we will make it through together. Our orientation will be in W. Memphis, AR.
