Don't forget, reefer's are a lot heavier than van trailers. Question when they want to put 46K or 47K (with pallets) in the box with a large car tractor.

    joesmoothdog Thanks this.

Buy Yourself a Panama Hat, look right & just watch. A smart Driver don't say nothing. The reefer is not needed to be pre cooled on most loads. The units we have now, the only way to mess up is running out of fuel. NOW. Check the load before you leave. Temp is crucial. Don't haul a suicide load. Onions way past there prime when I was young. If your not sure, check it again.

check temp on product before you load,,mark it on the bills,,place a pallet standing up in the front of the trailer so you have good airflow around the load,,every time you stop check load temp at the back of the trailer,,want to make sure the temp is right,, a reefer will not bring the load temp down,,only maintains the load temp..if the load is hotter that the temp you are instructed to set the unit at make sure it is noted on your bills and tell your dispatch when you load

Pickups happen at the end of the day after they pick and package the product, deliveries are often in the very early morning ...The money is in the overnight runs .. amounts to a lot of night running. Lots of places will not receive beyond 10am or noon. If you can't make it, they tell you gotta wait til the next days receiving shift starts.

Thanks go, I ran a reefer for 3 1/2 years for one company, and 2 years for another, and I don't remember that being the case. Things must have changed, because the shipping and receiving hours didn't differ from the van hauling I did. They both sucked, although, I'll admit, van was a little better. The one thing good about reefer, was it was nice and cool on a summers day, putting all that product on small wood.

For some reason it always seems like appointmens are between the hrs of 20:00 to 7:00. Idk why.
Now granted I get some strange ones in the middle of the day , but they are almost always to small grocery store warehouses.

I think thats why he said that . Maybe?
