I am temporarily partnered with a driver who is having some issues after dealing with a codriver who ditched him. He has an abscessed tooth which started off being painful, but it's starting to make him sick. I want him to see a dentist. If you're on the road and you have a dental emergency, can you still go to urgent care, or do you try to see a dentist? Do ERs have dentists around? I don't think he's going to make it all the way back to Pennsylvania with this going on.

If you are anywhere around Walcott and the I80 TS they have an in house dentist there. Hubby went to him and he's really good.

    Thanks for the tip. :)

On a related note, should I Qualcomm this or wait for him to put the flag up? I feel like someone should know what's going on here.

I think that it might be a good idea to let the company know that he's getting sick. When are you supposed to drop him back off?

    Nic99 and hal380 Thank this.

I am guessing I'll be around PA by the end of next week. We are working our way back over there with loads. He is getting a new codriver there as well.

I'm sitting here at my computer remembering how bad it can be with an abscessed tooth.
There are emergency dentist services available depending on where you're located.
If you have internet access you should be able to find one with a 24 hour phone number.
I hope your guest is able to hang on.

Criminey Jade and bullhaulerswife Thank this.

If the driver is also feeling ill, the infection may be spreading. He needs to see a dentist or go to the ER ASAP! A tooth abscess can become life threatening.

I am trying to talk him into it. He wants to see his Dentist at home, which I understand, but I don't think this can wait.

The driver could easily develop Sepsis and go down hill rapidly. This is not something to gamble your life on. He will need antibiotics and possibly intravenous fluids. This infection he has can shut down other vital organs due to the inflammatory response throughout his body.

If it's an abscessed tooth, the dentist won't do anything for him until the infection is killed off via antibiotics. Doing so risks spreading the infection to other parts of his body causing even more harm
