I've been keeping track for the last 8 months or so. I have filed out 15 detention forms, have collected 6 times for a total of approximately $280. Have collected around $500 of downtime on breakdown situations. I've had a crappy 5 months as far as my trucks have gone.

Need to make a clarification.....yes Safety did lose a bunch of people but the drunk is still there.

I apologize for giving hope to the non drunks employed at CCC.

and remember....there are no shortcuts to Tonns new BMW.....

What TO may or may not drive is totally irrelevant. I'd like to have a BMW....thinking of buying my wife a BMW convertible next year simply because she'd like to have one.

Now, you wanna knock how he runs the company? Have at it. But bringing up a car is horse manure. Sounds like jealous, petty crap.

I think you took that the wrong way. I believe what Bumper is saying is that Tonn would shortchange drivers just to line his pockets a little deeper.

    48Packard and Bumper Thank this.

My 1st 50 days back my fuel gauge continually malfunctioned and the engine light stayed on. Since I turned for home 2 days ago, the fuel guage started working reasonably accurate and no more engine light. I requested to deliver close to Deland so I could put the truck in the shop and instead they put me on a delivery to my home town. Guess I'll have to visit a shop when I head back out. I think I am about 6k over due for service. There's so much scribbling on the sticker that I can't even tell if it's due for the A or B. Air tanks MT out over night. Uses about a gallon of antifreeze every 3 weeks out. After checking my statements when I got home, I have actually been paid about 170.00 total on 3 of my detentions.

IMHO, detention pay is a problem no matter where you go. I had the same issues with Furniture Row Express as I had with any other company I drove for. They want to know right away if your being delayed so they can collect it but getting them to pay it out is another story.

I met a 74 year old driver last week. He's retiring at the end of the year. He's been with Crete over 10 years. He's based out of Lincoln. He claims to have been driver of the month numerous times and was Crete's Overall Driver of the Year a few years back. Says he stays out 30-90 days and had a little over 150k dispatched miles the year he was #1. Of course he's Still on Paper Logs. Rarely going home and on paper I didn't doubt him one bit. He acknowledged what we all already believe to be true. The Planners DO Take Care of Certain Drivers/Truck #s. Crete and every other company can spread the rhetoric that all drivers are treated equally and dispatch is completely random. Firstly, why would a company treat every driver equally? No two drivers are the same nor deserve the same. Everyone's commitment and professionalism levels vary greatly. I have always been of the opinion that large carriers should have an Elite Fleet for drivers that Prove to be a cut above. The only problem I have is their failure to acknowledge that such a thing exists.
