I agree with you wonderdog that it does hurt mpg. But, like Treputt said. Even on a dedicated run with the same load with same route. There are still alot of factors that effect mpg. The biggest one being driver habits.

So I wanted to know where you got your numbers from. I mean, do you have any actual links to controlled studies on what MPG loss one gets with a deer guard installed? Or is it just one of those "I know a guy, who has a cousin, who's uncle's sister's dad drives a truck and he said he be gettin bad gas mileage with them deer gates on his truk"

Unless you hit a deer! The one that got my company truck totaled the hood.
In my 2012 Cascadia without a guard I ran 7.2 MPG last summer (And spent ~$1,000 on a crappy after-market bumper after hitting a dog). In the short time that I've had this 2014 Evolution, with deer basher, I'm averaging 7.8 MPG. Yes, I know that it has to hurt fuel economy some. But it's not hanging out in the slipstream like side mirrors or bug deflectors. If I can maintain this kind of fuel economy with the added protection from deer strikes, I'll be happy!MachoCyclone and Soule_Man Thank this. -
The new RigGuards are designed to be more aero friendly. Saw them on the '15 Cascadias.

I've averaged 8mpg this week and I haven't been trying particularly hard.
if I slow down to 55, I imagine I could get 9 easy. -
My last trip home I set the cruise at 10 mph and got 75 mpg. I mean it took 3 weeks to go 1200 miles, but 75 mpg is awesome!not4hire Thanks this.

More like 5.7 mpg at 10 mph. Low gears tear up the fuel.
