LGBT Folks in the trucking industry?

I think I was misunderstood. The TTR community is compromised of the most honest and helpful people. Definitely in the top percentage of friendly and helpful folks.

What I meant is that out on the road, we all see a lot worse. Much worse. From those that hide behind a CB mic and spew hate to those that do it in person.

In my travels through life I always felt if someone was insulting me I don't respect their opinion. Therefore why would I be insulted?

Though that attitude is easier to idealize than actualize.

I don't care what a persons sexual preference is but why does your sexual orientation even need to be disclosed? I've never felt the need to disclose that I am a straight male. Just do your job and you'll be fine. If you walk into the restroom and start trying to give reach arounds is when you'll start having problems.

 

The hate often starts with, "I don't care... but.."

Unless they are a gay male lot lizard I don't think this is likely to happen. But you are welcome to keep dreaming that it will.

Nah, man. I have no hate for anyone based on sexual preference. To each is own. Because of that I don't understand why it would ever need to come up. Sure, many people, including truckers, may have a problem with it but unless a guy or gal is advertising their preference there won't be any issues.

 

To me this reads as if its ok for a guy to talk about his wife but not his husband? I personally don't care who you love as long as you aren't hurting anyone, anything and all that underage #### isn't involved. There is enough hate in this world without hating someone because of who they love.

 

To be fair, I've never talked with a trucker about his wife or husband.

Trucker talk consists of... Destinations, previous destinations, loads carried to destinations, length of time at destinations, future destinations... You get the idea.
