You bet ! Most cities have special places to park your truck while visiting...look for the red TOW AWAY signs. It's kinda like valet parking...
Can you explore a new city everyday as a newbie trucker?

I know you're a newbie but come on........ you are going to go wherever your load takes you, and a lot of times you're in the middle of nowhere. I think its best you to find another career path, then you can take a vacation to any city you like.crappiejunkie Thanks this.

Dude, do what the rest of us do, work. By the time you are finished with your day you won't have time for anything else. Contrary to what you might think, this is work, not sightseeing. If you really have this hair up your A.S.S. ask your new employer to give you your first load to Hunts Point, park the truck on Randall ave by the entrance to the market, then take the walking tour of the South Bronx, take a lot of pictures, talk to a lot of people and have a wonderful time. When you are done with the tour, come back and let us know how it went.

Sometimes you can, but often you can not. What you do as long as you get pleny of rest is your business. The bike is a capitol idea. Or of course you can choose to eat fries and shakes and lie about in your sleeper till you get to 5 or 600 pounds.
Yeah when u can, get out of the truck.... Just look and pay attention to where your at. -
Yes, I like the bicycle idea. However, the other comment also holds true :"will you have energy to go explore and have energy to drive a full shift afterwards SAFELY......" ; and, if you don't mind grossing under $20k a year, sure, go ahead.

Be your own boss. See America. Freedom of the road. High pay. Truth be know the only sight seeing you do is from the cab of a truck at 56 mph on the way to your next scheduled appointment. And then Winter rolls in...............

I never check to see what there previous post were, Kind seems like you need a overcoat, and hang out in alleys if you would bother with that.

You can explore the heck out the highway that runs through the city.

You might be able to do a bit. Only thing I can think of is if you get the pleasure of having to drop your trailer off and wait for a load of meat to be loaded onto it, you can drive into the city and park it at a mall, movie theater, casino, whatever. Load won't be ready for a while anyway.
If you have the balls to do it you could probably leave your truck parked at the Hunt's Point produce market in Bronx NY and hop on the subway and see where you end up in NYC .....
You should try to exercise a little bit, every day ... the bike idea is a good idea if you have the luxury of being able to take it with you easily enough. If you have the same trailer all the time you can throw it in the back unless a shipper demands a sealed trailer ... If you can figure out some contraption to put it on the back of your sleeper without the trailer folding it up for you then that would be a decent idea.
