There were people who had a problem dealing with the earth being round, when they knew it was flat... and many more who struggled to accept that the earth revolved around the sun and not the other way around...

There have been scientific findings to back what transgendered individuals knew and experienced their whole life.. that they feel they are in the wrong anatomical body... I cannot scientifically explain it.. but, the brain gets sent a message to be and develop as a female and the body is sent a message to be male... so, they do absolutely feel they are in the wrong body.. and they are...

There was a time when left handed people were forced to be right handed because of ignorance as to what causes one baby to be born rignt handed and another to be left handed... it was believed "wrong", bad, evil, weird, immoral, etc to be left handed and so children born naturally lefted handed were made to feel Inferior or bad about being born left handed and not the ' normal ' right handed...

Fortunately today we know better and no longer torture, judge or ridicule individuals who are born left handed..

Clearly we still have a long way to go in our development..

I am not twisting words, only observing what was written.

You don't want to see two guys kissing.

While I might look away from the same, 'cause that is not what I am into, I will not protest it.

If I know them, I will be happy they have found love. If I don't, then MEH, just another couple.

There was a tall broad-shouldered person with long blonde hair, large breasts and a big adam's apple at the J by Waterloo last time I stopped there. She or he was getting a lot of looks but seemed to be enjoying his or herself. I never really thought about which restroom someone like that would choose. I really wouldn't care much who would come in when I'm in there, just please turn off your headset and phone. I can't stand people talking on the phone, especially at the urinals.

edit: OR striking up a conversation with me, just do your business and you can talk to me outside. you use that phone or get chatty with me, you're probly getting a dirty look I don't care who you are. I guess I'm just old fashioned that way.

US express is open to accommodating people with such issues, but SWIFT screen out transgendered individuals in the pre hire application.

Pretty much this... I could care less unless you make it an issue. Ever hear the saying "Don't start none, won't be none"? I'm not big on insults but I don't want to hear about your sex life. For example, if you don't want to hear my hostile views on sodomy, don't talk to me about it. I'm a big fan of people keeping what goes on in their bedrooms and bathrooms to themselves. Its just called decency, which is sadly lacking in today's world... The LGBT community is just a minority in a nation made up of minorities that when you break it down really don't agree on much. I'm tired of having crap being rammed down my throat every five minutes by some bozo out to prove a point because of their own insecurity and animosity toward our ###### up society... I respect you as a fellow driver so shut up and drive. That's my advice- stay alert, stay focused, stay alive... nothing else matters.

The beauty of this job is that human interaction is a choice... take a moment to appreciate that.

    Just keeping it real.

Interesting to see new life in this old thread. I usually keep my personal life to myself on the road. There are way to many people who think its their right to tell you how to live your life according to their beliefs. Politics and religion are touchy issues that usually don't end well in conversation. Many a friendship can be ended quickly over a harsh word, disagreement or misunderstanding. Even when you think you're just sharing your personal experience, it can go incredibly wrong very quickly.

However, from time to time, I will speak up on the CB when the trash talk gets to be too much. Sometimes drivers need to be reminded that there might be kids in another truck. Do you really want them to hear you spewing hate and ignorance? We have come a long way in this country and industry. But we also have a long road ahead...

A lot of companies will not tolerate discrimination in its company itself like swift they fired a mentor for refusing a student and calling him a gay slur. But they cannot regulate people otr.

Showers are usually private rooms anyways, no gender specified. Bathrooms shouldn't matter because you can use a stall.

I guess Swift did this because of policy that was implemented because of law and not because they felt morally motivated. Truly a company is inert so it cant have a conscience , only responsibility. As you say however individuals will always have views that are in conflict with the company policy and this is okay.It is however not okay for individuals to act against policy. If they do then the company has the responsibility to right the situation. So Swift are doing what they are doing because of law, that's all.

I personally feel lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and straight people should stay out of trucking.
