Just listen in truckstops. At shipper and receivers. Have you ever pulled a reefer? Many times I have been outnumbered by non English speaking drivers.

LOL It is like some of you people are living in a bubble and don't realize how expensive life is. Notice I said comfortable lifestyle. My definition of that is a 3 bedroom house, two cars, a boat, and a motorcycle. Around here just the property tax on a $300,000 house will cost you 4 or 5 grand a year.
It's almost like some of you are content working for laughable money. I am not passing judgement on anyone as I w hore myself out (not literally) for peanuts too. But only becase I don't think I could survive on the street and I like my safe bed and daily shower.
For a whitecollar worker $150k is mediocre money as there are plenty like doctors and lawyers who make in the $300k range. Car dealership managers make around $200k a year., I know as I spoke to one.Last edited: Aug 26, 2014

Swift can and does fill it's 15k trucks; a few lies goes a long ways. They, like so many of the mega-crap, have new hires queued up waiting for empty trucks.
Some just don't understand the screw the worker business model these companies have. It is not driver churn it is driver burn. It is not drivers hopping from one company to another. It is drivers getting burned by these crap companies. The mega crap companies are not in the market for permanent workers. They need seasonal workers to cover their seasonal surge. That is it. Their goal is to get you out of a job after a seasonal surge ends; that way they can get out of paying unemployment and handicap their competition with un-insurable un-hirable workers.
Of course that means each year they need to cry about driver shortage, beg for more government handouts, and sell more 'driver training' to cover next years surge. Burn, baby burn. -
13%? that won't make a difference with how low they were in the first place

Then the rest really doesn't matter.

$2,000 weekly take home is more than most Americans make. You can live comfortably on much less. My wife and I combined make $1,500 weekly take home and have the stupid stipulations you set forth. 3 bed 2 bath home built in 03. Pickup truck, car, motorcycle. We eat steaks and lobsters when we feel like it. Oh, I forgot I do not have a boat so I guess I'm not comfortable any more.
gokiddogo and skyviper73 Thank this. -

What part of the country do you live in? -
Dude I don't bring in near $2,000.00 a week after taxes and I live very comfortably for a single person. My advice to you would be try getting out of Chicago and seeing what the cost of living is in the rest of the country. Hell if you make $40,000.00 a year or more in some places that's considered rich.cowboy_tech Thanks this.

I thought I was quite comfortable in my lifestyle until I read this. Thanks for raining on my parade.
