I've tried to switch to android. I didn't enjoy the experence as I felt like I was taking more steps to do the same thing. Also since at this point most android devices only connect to a stereo via Bluetooth or aux really well. (There are expentions but those normally require higher end head units.) The apple experence for mobile usage was better for me. Via the usb connection I keep all my steering wheel controls of the device.
Though surprisingly besides my GPS software I'm not heavily invested into the Apple market place even though I've had apple since before Android cellphones came to Canada. -
Pandora and Slacker Radio on my Note 3. Pandora for randomized selection, and Slacker for custom build playlists that are downloaded on my phone and don't use my data.

What I found when I was researching it for cars was that this was going away and when it was around it was about the same as a acting as a flash drive were with IOS devices it acts more as a sound card. Which means it will bring in audio from any App including the GPS voice.
While I think this will change in the future with the car integration but it isn't there. Specifically not on the cheap head unit I have. -
You can't do the same thing as Android, not even close. Not with Apple. You can't do ANYTHING without iTunes. I never have to hook my Android to my computer, never.

Snowwy, convert them to mp3. Some versions of Android doesn't support MP4. Also, use conversion software. Changing the extension its self sometimes can screw with things.

While I agree with you that Itunes sucks. This isn't 100% true. If you are getting your music form the Itunes store you don't need to connect to the computer to get this. Or if you are getting it via amazon cloud player or things like that you can get away without connecting it to a computer.
Though I am a little confused what brought this up.
