What is your truck wheelbase? Are you pulling a spread axle trailer?
-
Not sure what's the wheelbase on this truck since I'm running company's truck for this load, but it's a 2007 Freightliner and it's a tandem axle.

There are a few threads that have the Canadian rules summarized, check for a sticky in the Canadian forum. Have 14-day's logs, show 24 hours off-duty in the last 14 days.
Here's a post covering most of what you need: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-forum/257364-pipe-to-alaska.html#post4152680 -
Here's some info on length: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-forum/257364-pipe-to-alaska.html#post4152659
Here is a link to the AB Transportation Regulation Summary page. Follow these and you'll be fine: http://www.transportation.alberta.ca/4777.htm -
Ok you should be good to go. If you are legal with US weights then you will be legal here. If you are legal with US hos you will be legal here - only extra rule we have is at least one 24 hour period of off duty in the preceding 14 days. That means you can work 14 days but better not work on day 15. Also you have to show inspector previous 14 days rather than 7 like you do in the US. You should be just fine.
One other thing, we don't have billboards to tell you where the truck stops are. Some, but not too many. Know where you plan on sleeping, the towns are far apart and there isn't a rest area or anything if you need to stop for quite some time for some stretches. Enjoy your trip -
As long as you have 24 hours off, then you're fine. So if you work 14 days, you only really need to take an additional 14 hours off to meet the 24 hours off rule and then you're good to go. Of course, 12 more and you've got a Canada-legal reset.
For the OP, we have VERY FEW rest areas as you might be used to in the U.S. We do have road-side pullouts though, so make use of them when you need to. Some aren't much more than a wide-spot just enough for one truck and most aren't well marked. -
Yep, QC and ON for now. Be set at 65mph or face fines. Anything Canada is more expensive, roads are very simple, nothing to worry about on that end.
-
be sure to know about truck Dims restrictions. Max WB is 244" for example, Spreads are very restricted on most provinces, Etc....
-
Also if you do not have a lock or seal on the trailer doors good chance you will get pulled in for a level 2 inspection and possible X RAY scan as they question the fact contraband could have been put in the trailer and the Quebec border gets a lot of smuggling BOOZE < DRUGS < TOBBACO
