lol ... nope, nothing to worry about there. I was just a tad confused because the school told me one thing and the dmv told me the complete opposite. Thanks for the help

The laws seem to change each year..but I'm pretty sure you just take the written test and you'll get your endorsement, then you go get the TSA..mine dont expire till next year so I see whats up then..TSA is good for 5 years..
rroney7768 Thanks this. -
I just got my hazmat about 3 weeks ago, so i can tell u from my experience. The DMV could not let u take the written test unless u go thru the TSA part first (because the computer would not allow them to open the test page), which only take about 21 days for TSA to send the letter home stating your eligibility. Once u receive that letter, u can go ahead and get to the DMV and take the Hazmat test, u dont need to bring that letter with you because they already receive that info electronically from TSA. You will then take the test on a computer at the DMV, a screen will pop up and says something like "congratulation, u have passed the Hazmat test, please see a DMV employee something something something...." once you get to a certain amount of correct answers. I dont know exactly how many but its in the range of 27-30. Good luck.

Oh, and the cost for TSA is $86.50 unless they just jack the price up again in 3 weeks, and u need to get your fingerprint every 2 years.

The dmv was telling me I could mark on the app that I was going to get the hazmat but I didn't need to take the test that day, I could take it later and do the tsa check later as well. I just gonna talk to the people at school this weekend,.see what they say and probably go do the endorsements next week.

It wont, if TSA isn't done approving you, then you simply won't have it on your license until it's done. Has nothing to do with your license until it's added at that point the DMV will print you a new license. That's how it works in my state at least. But we also don't do that pre-qualify thing either, DMV does the fingerprinting and background check on their end.rroney7768 Thanks this.

I agreee except if you live in a different state than your school is in. If it is your license will be issued in the state your school is in, so better to wait on the Hazmat endorsement. You will probably want to transfer your license to your home state. That is the time to do the hazmat as more than likely it is not transferable. You have to pay for the background check, fingerprinting and the endorsement itself. No point paying this twice.

Correct, u dont need and cannot to take the hazmat test that day. They just gonna leave ur app open until ur tsa check is approved while they issue u a temp paper license. Then when u r ready, come back to the DMV and take the hazmat test, once u pass, they will close ur app and wait 10-14 days for the permanent plastic liense to b sent home with all ur endorsements on it.rroney7768 Thanks this.

This must be a CAL thing, here in NV, they wont let you take the test until you pass the TSA
