most company drivers are sheep. once they are parked they aint going no where. plus with elogs moving even 5 minutes away will most likely start your clock.

dennisroc and gntorres61 Thank this. -
Currently in caddo mills ,tx at the pilot taking my break. The load doesnt deliver until 8pm tommorrow so I will be sitting. Dot in tx had open the weight scales pulling in random trucks for inspections. I saw a lot of truckers getting citations.
passport220, HometimeQueen and gntorres61 Thank this. -
Made an early morning delivery near Atlanta, preplan was then to meet a swap to take a load to Northern Florida today but that was cancelled. Waited until noon to get a load in Alabama going to central Texas. I'll have 5 hours tonight and all of tomorrow to drive 570 miles.
dennisroc Thanks this. -
Seems like TA sure has a lot of swaps , I don't hear about that much with other companies.
Why is that , is it just a TA thing or do a lot of companies do this ? -
Ta as a training co has a lot of drivers that cant get around as quickly as they should
loads are dispatched at 52 mph so every load originally has enough time
but delays weather and such put a crimp in these plans
sometimes loads just get you going in a direction for HT or the other driver for HT
breakdowns are another reason
more swaps happen on the reefer side compared to dry van loads
where timing isnt so criticaldennisroc and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
^ I make it a point to never need to have my load swapped out if I can help it. If I can wait to have a repair done when I am empty, that is what I will do.
If I get a swap it is as Cranky said, that another driver's load is late for some reason. Sometimes it is late coming out of the plant. On-time delivery is the competitive battle ground, especially in temp controlled loads and I think TransAm does take it seriously.
If my load is running on time and my new swap load is running on time, it is usually a case of using a swap to route the other driver so (s)he can take home time.Last edited: Aug 30, 2014
