Maybe if a group of people started petitioning the truck stops to tighten up rules against taking your brakes/showers etc. in the fuel islands and scales. It would be in there own best interest. Just a thought. Most of the time it's done out of pure laziness.

This....^^^^^^^......is just as bad...no , scratch that....many , many times worse than sitting on a fuel island....that's wrong , selfish , and very aggravating , but pulling a pin on somebody is the lowest of the low , worse than even abandoning a truck to get some "pay back". If someone is blocking the fuel island , holding you up, go find him , let him know eye-ball to eye-ball just how you feel.....man-up , don't be a coward and pull the pin on the equipment he's operating.....by doing that you don't really hurt him , But , you do hurt the owner of the equipment , and the owner of the cargo inside of it.....A man / driver that will stoop that low wouldn't candle worth a darn in my book....and to even suggest doing it tells us all here just where your head is at chevyman85.....sure does.......you just made the point about rookies showing veterans or any other driver for the OP.....pulling a pin just isn't an option...ever.....never.....

All this behavior comes from watching others, monkey see monkey do.
At times there will be 15 fuel islands all full, with trucks lined up behind and no one will pull up after they're done. Yet at other times there will be 15 trucks all pulled up without anyone behind them. This happens just because they see the driver next to them do the same thing. This same behavior happens on the road too, from tailgating, to aggressive driving, improper lane changes, not letting the other truck to merge and such.

Beg to differ here. It wasn't as common in years past. Now you have a different class of drivers coming along. Different work ethic altogether.

    ##### about it, piss and moan, rant, vent here on online forums, heck even blame the "next" generation. Do any of those acts remedy the challege??

I much prefer to simply do the right thing and treat others the way I wish to be treated. When I'm thanked I'll reply "don't thank me, pay it forward". One person CAN start a trend that completely transforms a challenge.

Exactly, because I've been reading about it lately, I am even more aware of how long I have been in the truckstop after pulling forward. Just yesterday, after pulling up, a driver pulled behind me. So I run inside to scan my bills and buy some coolant, 5 minutes tops, right? Oh, hell no. The scanner was being a pain and it took me about 4 scans to get a good scan, then there was a line at the register you wouldn't believe. So I am standing there becoming more antsy [emoji16] , imagining that other driver fuming [emoji35] in his truck because I am one of those drivers. I quickly make my purchase, hustle out the door[emoji125] , and spy [emoji102] the driver behind me; his hood is open and he's cleaning his windows, fuel nozzles still attached to his tanks. Sometimes our biggest source of stress is our own mind.

I still consider myself a new driver (driving a year and a half )and one of the very first things I learned is, you have no control over the idiots. I waited over 45 min behind a guy the very first time I fueled. (pilot exit 10 I-70 Ohio) Told my self, if I let these idiots wind me up and piss me off, I am going to be aggravated every day and I'm going to hate this job.
