The first major catastrophe would shoot down any use of a auto bought truck. How would they justify the loss of human life by a driverless truck.

How's a driverless truck going to negotiate an off road delivery/pick up? Or dock area? Automatic trailer door openers? Imagine shipping facilities paying millions of dollars to set up the dock area to be driverless truck friendly.

No sir, maybe a computer can guide a rig on asphalt with lines and sensors but at destination a human will have to take over.

Just saw a piece about how driverless vehicles have trouble in heavy rain, snow, ice.

Weren't we supposed to all be driving George Jetson hover cars by the new millenium?

    br-b-b-b-b-b-bb--! *Jetson car sound effect*

Jetson's hover cars are here already....FAA is involved in regulation that will control their "Vectors" around our country and eventually...the globe. SEE MOLLER SKY CAR and Terrafugia .

All joking aside I would believein the exsitance of BigFoot before the possibility of driverless trucks here in the USA. We are already way too regulated as it is. Just think of the liability issues for a company to bear/pay for alone. Talk about consumer prices going up.

Not only that, you still have computer glitches and crashes, virus that can course an entire metropolitan transport system to shut down by thousands of driverless trucks.

Their is also a real life jet pack that is in testing but it will be decades before the average person can go out and buy one. The earliest estimate for a driver less semi to be operational is the 2025 claim but even still it's not a drone...basically it's autopilot at best.
