I'm not against swaps in general.

I delivered my first stop and am now in Fairburn, GA less than a mile from my second stop. Managed to grab the only open space in the truck stop. I will deliver my last two stops and then probably come back here afterwards to take a 10. And there's an awesome vape shop here!!!

Slept in my own bed last night and it felt great! I think they still want to do the Baxter load going to Overland Park Kansas, butthe load picksup Tuesday but I will not cut my hometme short to accomodate that. I stayed out an extra day to babysit the meat load and now I want my extra day back. If I can pickup Wednesday, then I will gladly do it. Deuces.

"Several years old" in computer years is like a century in human years, I think.

Aquarius169, I would add just a couple of things to what Cranky Yankee told you. This is our newest thread so there is a lot of information on the old one that may help you. Go back and read the posts for the last 6 months to a year ....it will give you an idea of the company currently. Here is where you will find it - http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...773.html?highlight=transam+olathe#post4104557. Put a list of questions together with your concerns and we will do our best to answer them all.

There is a lot of wisdom in these thousands of pages. Spend some time reading the forums that pique your interest and, as others have said, write down some specific questions. Two bits of advice I would have for you are these:

    1. Don't let the big numbers impress you. Your first year in trucking will be difficult and very challenging. You might or might not make it through four seasons and 48-states, but I can promise that you WILL not make the big bucks you read about.

    2. Focus on doing the best you can at your first job. Your CDL school only trained you to pass a test; there is so much more to learn about trucking. Much of it is unpleasant and might make you want to inflict bodily harm on others, but it's all part of the package.

Hone your craft slowly and surely. Don't spend all your free time listening to griping drivers or thinking you got the raw end of the deal. In this business, the grass is NOT greener over there, so stick with your first choice for 12 months, no matter how tough it is - and it will be tough, no matter where you start. Then you can be a bit more selective because you will have proved yourself to employers. And yourself.
