    they change hotels frequently
terminals are both ok nothing special
but the point is to be out driving
    terminals and hotels are meaningless

Aquarius, when I was in orientation in Rockwall TX back before Memorial Day weekend, TA put us up at the Best Western Rockwall, which was a nice hotel with an indoor pool. Breakfast was pretty good. Nice black woman there named Paula. She kept asking me if I was really a truck driver, she'd say "you don't look like a trucker, why are you doing this,". Cornell Collins was our orientation instructor, and he is very entertaining and really good at what he does. They ordered lunch for us the three days we were there. Pizza one day, Barbecue the next and subs, I think. Standard lunch fare, but good. Dinner is on your dime. Several restaurants are within walking distance. Like I said you will go over your handbook especially chapter 7 and 11 which discuss Hours of service and communications with TransAm using the TREQ blue tree system. They will introduce the lease program and will give you all the information. You will fill out alot of forms dealing with insurances, 401k and the like. Standard orientation stuff. Nothing to get hung about. I enjoyed orientation with Cornell. Hope this helps. You do get paid like $50 a day which will come a week later. I have been to orientations where you dont get paid. Don't let the money deter you or sway you.

You are not going to make the kind of money that they imply you would if you lease. Granted, to me personally, the freedoms that come with being a contractor make this worth doing, but don't let them convince you you'll be dining on steak and lobster. I'm too set in my ways to be a company driver anymore. But the money is why I'm leasing this truck to another carrier in the spring. I like TransAm and am very happy here, but I'm not going to turn away from being able to easily double my money, even quadruple it or more every week. One of my good friends is willing to vouch for me to get me in with his usual agents for some really good paying freight.

I answered a few pages back. I love traveling and meeting people and like that if I do my job correctly, I will always have a job. Been let go, have had my job outsourced. At least with trucking, I would have some say so and not be squeezed out by corporate power play. The industry is screaming for drivers. Means jobs are always there. That means alot to a 53 year old with no college degree (overeducated society).

One thing I love about this industry is the harder you work the more you get paid. Unlike an hourly job where sometimes you have to make up for the lazy one next to you in this if I swap I get paid the miles and sometimes I get extra. It may not be the perfect job but I love it. Coming from L.I./Queens for me to see all this open land is awesome
