I just dont see the issue. The gps tells you how to get from point A to point B. If somewhere along the way it tells you to go somewhere a truck shouldnt be( mine doesnt do that/nonissue), well, your eyes are on the road arent they? On the road there are wonderful things called signs and many directed at trucks....anyways, you do this brilliant thing called DONT drive down that road and the gps will reroute you. 99 out of 100 times it will reroute you on an approved truck route.

The issue is, those who hate gps, use the fools who run into the bridge, and blame it on the gps, the fools who take a mountain road, and blame it on the gps, and they paid no attention to the signs posted.

It is NOT the gps fault, it is the person using the tool who is at fault...

I can totally use mine right.

How I use it doesn't make it any less of an idiot box. It still tries to route me down roads that aren't truck safe, it still complains when I'm on roads in the NE that are truck safe but will tell me there are non existent dangers ahead, it still tries to take me up goofy routes that are all around stupid.

Overall they're a waste of money, sometimes handy but I'm done with that BS. I picked up a used 520 the other day for $70. It will likely be the last ######## box I buy.

100% sounds like user error and lack of updating...

Unlikely user error, I'll cede the point on maybe needing an update, but the Garmin built into my peterbilt was just updated at the shop, it was also pinging about this 11" bridge that never turned up. I think they are just junk, hell these things even had me doubting my routing...atlas said the road was clear so I pressed on. Surprise! No bridge.

its just amazing how they work flawlessly for the tech inclined generation, the run like crap for th old farts.... Do yu not see that correlation??? Also why buy a garmin when Rand Mcnally (the atlas people) make one with everything thats in their atlas installed in the GPS.

That is like buying a mac and thinking its going to work like a PC just because they are both computers.

I bought mine at an auction for 12 or 19 bucks it is a Rand McNally TND 510.
I use it to track my miles for the day week and between fuel ups for mpgs It also serves as a speedometer.

I never waste time putting in where I am going because there is no need for a box to tell me what I already know.
If I need to get directions to a place once I get to town I call that's why I have cell service .

I would never have one if I had to pay full price for one because I don't see where they are any real help in doing my job .
I also don't .....Never mind starting to get on my soap box not wasting breath or time anymore :biggrin_25512:

    Yeah.
PA Turnpike, idiot truck GPS starts sqawking about a couple of 11-foot bridges.
    Did they exist?
    Nope.
Usefulness is all in your head.

Pay your money and stare at your shiny glowing things, consumer...
