Ya I know it never has paid double and never will, only in a perfect world. It's just the same old same old more work for the employee no more money except for the company. It's just life.

LOL--Im not sure that really is true--at least when it comes to a set vs a van(as they say today)....take my example--back when i 1st started w/Big R---sets (double pups)still were not legal at home in fl--but once Fl approved pups--it didnt change the inbound outbound linehaul set up at all--granted--there is more cube available in a set--at leaast then 28' set vs 45'van(standard way back then)but look at a large cube 53'--how much more is it? actually--I think sets(pups)have really always been more of an equipment usage situation--whereas back then we stripped 45s onto old city wagons(anyone remember the old 32' 90" city trailers? couldnt get 2 pallets in side by side LOL--and could barely stand in em)Once pups could run the entire system--they were both linehaul and pd wagons--ans added all those single axle linehaul tractors that could be used as pd during the day--which believe me--at least at Big R if you were a city guy w/out much senority--that was a big step up from those baby cabover fords--with a straight 6 gas motor! LMAO

Ya I know I drove on of those little coe Fords each and every Monday out of Romulus Mi. Did it for a few years to supplement the Tues thru Sat job. Aw the good old days when good jobs where there for the asking and most companies treated driver well. Except for Central but the money there was still good if you could put up with their crap.

Most of the turnpike guys run a day cab and do switches some run a bunk truck drive 11 hrs or so sleep hook up their switch and return home most tell me the avg 80,000 to 110,000 a year unless they drive for H and R which is decent pay if you don't mind pulling two trailers across the windy prairies
