GPS distance to go, and elogs time remaining (and a calculator) will provide you with an answer of how fast you need to average to get to your destination. Or whether you need another shift...

i use my gps as a tool everyday
i dont have just a screwdriver in my tool box
i like it best for planning fuel stops
google maps is my best friend to see what i am looking for
like the truck entrance that is on a different street from bills -
21 pages and I still don't understand what's the big deal if you use it or not or use both an atlas and GPS. Whole bucha dick measuring goin on
Giggles the Original, KAK and joseph1135 Thank this. -
the measuring wouldn't be going on, if people actually paid attention to the signs on the roads. LOL.

I DID NOT read the last 11 pages. Whenever I see a thread called 'GPS', I cringe. For the past 5 years I have used GPS. I use it for fun. I have a fairly decent knowledge of most of North America, much of Europe, some of south east Asia, and some of Central America. I have grown up on trusting paper. The signal does not get lost on paper. The batteries don't get low on paper. Paper doesn't 'lock up'. I trip plan. have for many years. I call ahead to new places, write down the info, and save it. I readily use (because I'm not stupid) Google Maps. A wonderful tool ! I also use GPS to get there ..... BUT ...... MY software BACKUP is reviewing my large paper atlas that morning over breakfast and committing it to memory as best as possible. JMHOO - Just My Humble Old Opinion.
Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
1.) it was given to me as a gift (FREE STUFF!!!!!)
2.) it (Garmin Nuvi BTW) is great for final mile. You can "trick" it into displaying a map of as 4 mi. radius around the destination.
3.) restaurants and truck stops are programmed in the data base. At least TA/Pilots are, the indies, Wilcos and Loves sneak up on me.
Not perfect, but a useful tool. As long as I have the good sense not to trust it blindly. -
I run 2 garmins I am very happy with but am interested in how to trick it.
Because sometimes when getting close to destination will pan out and become usless. -
and just where does that leave ME ???
FatDaddy, Speedloader, snowwy and 1 other person Thank this. -
This thread while somewhat amusing---doesn't hold a candle to the atlas gps thread over in new drivers...way more fun over there--LMAO
Speedloader, tsavory, Giggles the Original and 1 other person Thank this.
