all they had in arcadia was a bowl of candy, kind of disappointed they didn't do anything, but call us. walmart does feed there drivers well and the last company I worked at did it every year I was there. even had to go containers. left wi this morning going home for tomorrow end up with 2800 for 5 days.

 

Ya, I look at it as an opportunity to build bridges with drivers and a like, I would love to hear the real story, they did cheap out on this!

 

Well did about 2950 for the week, but it was a little rough at times, will be home sat morn, still was able to make about 1400 for 5+ days work, not whining about it at all, thats my sweet spot, about 3000 miles, and about 1400 gross for 5.5 days. But did get to see 78 in AL about 5 times, that got a little old--LOL

 

At least you got some candy lol all I got was continually woke up all week with those #### annoying calls lol never was able to get off the night shift this week otherwise I'd have stayed out on recap for nothing and wouldn't have been able to change my reset. By the third day felt like calling them at home at 3am and telling them how much I appreciated being appreciated. It's a nice gesture but I've never really been into the events and dinners and social functions I'm a pretty private keep to myself kind of guy. Leave me alone and let me do my job and I'm at my best. Show me you appreciate me in my paycheck. That's where it matters.

78 does suck if you see it too much. I got the bad end of it through Memphis 3 times this week. That's just #### annoying going through there any other time than the middle of the night.

Chicago last night was absolutely insane. Ramp to 294 was shut due to construction and the line backed up for the detour was about a mile long. Ended up just going through. What a choice. Like having to choose between being stuck on an island with ex #1 or ex #2 lol better to just kill me now but at least I kept moving and didn't get backed up in traffic. Lost count of the near misses with all the idiots cutting me off and swooping in front of me. Worst one was a car full of wannabe thugs tried to drive into my drivers side fuel tank. They wanted the lane and just kept coming. then got all pissed hanging out the window yelling at me when I held my line and didn't let them force me over. Kept crowding the truck and flashing their stupid gang signs at me. Don't know where they thought I was going to go the right lane was packed and I had at least 10 trucks running up my ### and they had clear left lane. They were just out trying to #### with someone. Not going to be me. I laid hard on the horn to start drawing attention to us and held my line and they got the message and sped off. Had another one in a Maserati get upset cause I took too long for him getting on the ramp out bound to 80 and swooped around me on the right shoulder and brake checked me hard. I was already slowing cause I could see something stupid coming. Thank god for that dash cam I almost needed it too many times last night.

I'll end up with 3049 but won't get in till 2130 tonight. Solid week especially on recap. Quite a few d/h to so it'll be a good week. Short weekend though. Already planned back up to baraboo for Tuesday before I even left Arcadia. That's more like it.

Holy-poo! Ya that dash cam has already save me a few times, am so glad I have on 24-7. Even when the truck is parked for the week-end. The most recent was one in TX, slowed down on a Huston side street, looking for the right entrance into a scrap mental yard for a back haul, stopped for a min-then wam in the back of the trailer-some one in a 96 ford 4 door dark red hit the DOT bumper high enough not to set off there air bags, backed up and drove off around me as I was walking to the back,-dash cam recorded the impact felt form inside the cab and the sound it made, and the car with a heavy damaged front end just driving around me, like nothing happen, had a witness got the phone number of him and name-he said it was the damest thing he's seen, they just drove off like nothing happen. Made a dvd of that one mailed it in to Don Shultz, he could not believe it, that was just about 6 weeks ago.

I must say I am the type of person that will drive extra to drive around Chicago if I can. To many people getting hurt there, been in that city way to many times.

 

O' when I left ECRU, MS Friday morning-lots 1,2,3 and the north lot was filled to capacity, never seen it that full for loads ready to go out since I started there:

About average I think, how have you been doing up there---

 

I ran up there with epes a lot as well and even worse with them because I had a lot of pickups and deliveries all around the area. it's even worse once you get off the highway around there. have to say while it's always been bad around there, it's gotten a lot worse the last year or so.....both for sheer stupidity of the drivers around there and add in the 57 miles of construction on 90 now between elgin and rockford and it's just an intolerable place to drive. don't know what was up around there Friday night but it was a whole different level of stupid than I've seen on the road in a long time. 3 different times I had cars in front of me change lanes into each other, bounce off each other and just keep going like nothing happened. and they hit hard too. the stress level just trying to keep enough distance between me and the morons in front of me was really high. took way longer to get through there than it should have just due to keeping the speed down to keep the following distance wide enough for my liking.

I played around with the gps some trying different routes and think I'm going to run 74 out of indy up to 39 going to Baraboo Monday and just bypass all the idiots. there really isn't any good alternate route but I'm pretty sure at this point I can justify the extra miles just to reduce the exposure to the idiots and liability.

advance lot was really full too when I got in last night. haven't seen that many loaded trailers there since I've been there.
