It is not the point of the speeding ticket, but the amount over the limit. 15 over is a magic kill number in the trucking world. Did you try everything at the time to get it knocked down to a lower speed, like traffic school, asking them to reduce it?

The majority who can afford to speed can also afford the attorney to make it go away.

Lets be realistic here. No one is passing judgement, Only stating the facts.

Your record, not just MVR, but everything from credit history, drug tests, CSA, Property you buy, anything that is public record and will be used to judge you for the rest of your life.

I try to explain to my kids that they need to act like a camera is following them all day long,.. and I'm the one on the other side watching. Because one way or the other,.. its all public record. Its all a history of your actions, good or bad. And they way society is, you can do 999 good things,.. but it will be that 1 thing that you screwed up that everyone will remember you for. Sucks, but thats life.

The OP is asking who will over look a major speeding incident. Its not like companies advertise,.. we over look 15+ mph speeding discretions. They want mature responsible drivers. The liabilities involved with putting someone behind the wheel with a reckless record is like painting a bullseye for a lawsuit if anything happens. Even something minor,.. the second a lawyer pulls that drivers record, it becomes a matter of how much. No company wants to go through that.

The majority here take their job very seriously. This is our livelihood. If I had a speeding ticket with 10 or more over and needed work, I'd break open the phone book and start calling everyone in the list. It might take 50 - 70 calls. Eventually someone will either extend a hand and help you out. Or potentially see you as someone who can be manipulated and forced to drive how no one here wants to be driven. I'm guessing the latter will come first.

Good luck to you. If you are determined, you will get past this and look back on it and remember that its not a place you wanted to be. Thats learning from your mistakes. No one is perfect. But like it or not, we do what needs to be done in order to protect our livelihood.

Just gonna take a LOT of work on your part beating on doors. Insurance companies dictate on a lot of hiring practices. 15 over is considered reckless driving and can get your CDL suspended for six months the second time around I think. You are going to have to beat on a lot of doors to companies that not many have heard of. You may find a driver, for example containers, that may want to fill his seat and give you a chance.

I did not. It was my first and only speeding ticket and I was not considering a career in the trucking industry a year a half ago. I have learned from my mistakes and now know how much one incident can haunt you in the future. I was speeding for a dumb reason. I normally don't speed. And well it was a very dumb reason.that is all I can say.

The problem is it's a major violation. One more major violation within 3 years of that one equals an automatic 60 day CDL suspension. From a companies point of view, that is a big liability.

Don't be so hard on yourself, it happens. I'm heading to Home Depot which is 3 miles away, I absent-mindedly forget to buckle-up and voila, I get a ticket. Some drivers on this board are so holier than though. They think they're Ward Cleaver and every posting is like their admonishing the Beaver.

In Michigan that gets you reckless driving and 6 points on your MVR. That is hands of to drive for just about anyone.
