R&L Carriers, Ups Freight, Ups, Fed Ex, DHL, Sherwin Williams, Roadway, Yellow, ABF, Holland, Old Dominion, Sherwin Williams, Wal Mart, Frito Lay, Precision Motor Transport, Waggonners, Tri-state Motors, Sygma, Sysco, Martin Brower, US Postal service, and Acme are a few "good companies" that have different opportunities in different areas. Some are regional, some are ltl, some are truckload, some are local, some are union, some are non union.

Each outfit has its own niche and you will have to research each to determine which is the best fit. Good luck.

    Lurch,
I guess I havent followed you too closely, are you currently driving for a company or a total beginner without a CDL?

Schneider has a dock in Denver with dedicated runs, youd most likely be home daily, let me know and I can PM you some more info.

    ZIggy - yes!

well, not driving at the moment, fresh out of school with CDL-A - with wiggles and tankers, awaiting Hazmat endorsement. Not looked at Schneider, really - they're bigger than I want to work for, but if the current flock of apps ends up in /dev/null/, I'll take a look at 'em.

I your fiance' has that amount of experience with a good driving record he should have no problem going in with the transport co.'s and be home every night. ( USF, CONWAY, UPS, FEDEX, ETC.)

Good luck to both of you I know it is hard dealing with this type of career.

My other suggestion, if your man has a computer with him on the road, to start applying online making appt. interviews when he gets home.
Looking for the local work and applying in person on home time( being very careful not to make appt. too early in his home time (because we all know we don't get home on time.:biggrin_25523:
