I going back to work soon they run 9 speeds mostly.
I have experience skip shifting 10 speeds example if you don't know what I am talking about is starting out in 2nd gear skipping to fourth then 6th gear. Or 3-5-7. can this be done in a 9 speed....
Is it possible to skip shift a 9 speed?

Maybe on the low side, but the gears are spaced really far apart (ratio wise) on the high side. I don't see it happening loaded, unless you're revving it to 2500 rpm

when pulling a loaded trailer there is really no need to skip a gear just for the hell of it...i can see skipping a gear because you're starting off on or near a downgrade and as the truck builds momentum you might be forced to skip to the appropriate gear
BROKENSPROKET and okiedokie Thank this. -
If it's got gears , you can skip them
-
Fixed it for you!

To the OP, the easiest way to find out is to try it. Of course if you break it. . . .

In certain situations yes. But mostly no. I hope that cleared everything up.

this is why i dont have drivers anymore. Why would you even want to skip them wow just wow.
carolinacrazyhorse and double yellow Thank this. -
You could do it empty, but if you were loaded to skip without lugging down would mean you'd have to rev it high... Which of course you can do, but I'm sure your shop might have something to say about it.

Skip gears? Whats the rush? Ya can't drive em like a four wheeler. Learn to enjoy (catch all gears) your ride.

Sure skip gears no problem. Start in 2nd if loaded, skipping low and 1st, start in 3rd if empty skipping low, 1st and 2nd. Skip gears all the live long day!
