Just as drivers make mistakes, everyone else can also.....especially as they try to make changes associated with a new way of doing things. If you keep good notes, keep a record of your texts and messages it will be easier to track down what is happening. If the problem is in the office then you have the documentation necessary, if it is a mistake on your part having things written down may help you catch it before it is a costly problem, or help you identify what you did wrong so that you don't make the same mistake again.
The most critical part of the job is moving the freight in a timely manner. When it is time to go to work, go to work....don't assume that you have plenty of time. Move as far as you can everyday and if you get there early you are in position to get unloaded early....if luck is with you, you can move on to another load and a better paycheck. The only time you don't move when your ten is up is if you are 10 minutes from your receiver and your appointment isn't for another 8 hours.

The way the new system is set up, you are supposed to be consistently dealing with the same 4 people. You have DM1 who works 7 on, 7 off, 12 hour days then at the end of that week it switches to DM2. Night dispatch is also supposedly set up the same way now. You would have the same pair at night, each person alternating each week. That being said, I get Kim every other week and a couple weeks ago she told me her double was Greg, a new guy. I have yet to hear anything from Greg and have been getting a lot of Mike in Rockwall lately which is odd because I'm dispatched out of Olathe. Then again, I do my best to avoid dealing with night and weekend dispatch at all so it's harder for me to tell what's actually going on at night.

I guess I was switched from being dispatched out of Olathe and now from Rockwall due to this new system. I like my new main dispatcher well enough. Maybe not as experienced as my last one in Olathe but performance has been ok. Good preplans and such. When she is not working, there is a BIG drop off in performance. I don't know who all of them are, I often get unsigned messages from dispatch when she is not there, so I don't know their names. Longer wait times to get a reply to a message, sometimes I don't get any reply at all. That never used to happen.

That was at a Walmart? I hope George knew he could call himself and reschedule. I would not wait for dispatch to take care of that kind of stuff. In fact, if there is anything I can get done on my own, I do it ... then send a message to dispatch to let them know the plan.

I just got a load, Dodge City to Virginia. From the drop dead time, likely a 24 hour wait before I can get out of Dodge.

passport is right sometimes it is better to call the receivers yourself, just be a pro and not lose your head when you call and they don't give you the answers you are looking for. I don't think George would have that problem but that is for anyone else reading this. I call receivers and shippers all the time for info on either hours they will put me in a dock or directions. I do not trust GPS. When I drove local in NYC the service entrance was often on the side or back of the building but the address was in front. There is nothing like having to go around the block with one of these truck in Manhattan.

Trying to reschedule my load for tonight but if not will be up on 70 near Denver for a good spot for a swap. Never know.

    Be safe out there

Put my pin in Olathe for the day. It has been a long day already and it's not even half over. T called a load at 0300 after the stupid thing came out after drop dead. I survived tribal council this morning but don't care to go into further detail really except that I'm still in the game and playing strong. Got some supplies at the parts counter, updated permits, am waiting now to get the truck washed and the truck has been checked in for service. I need my APU PM done and then when that is complete I will be heading over to Kenworth to have my alignment done, tires rotated and fuel sensor replaced.

Thank you HTQ but you are either real early or real late depending on your view, my birthday is in late April.

Got lucky and they are going to swap me. So I am in Burlington, Co. waiting for swap driver. New load going to Englewood delivers 0500. Hopefully get a good preplan out of there. Have a shot at over 3,000 this week just need some luck.

    Be safe out there
