How can my wife earn money as a passenger?

Not sure if this would interest her but I bought a bottle cutting kit and am making unique vases and glass sets that I will sell on ebay or craigslist. I have the benefit of having kids that can handle the craigslist stuff while I am on the road. Ebay is just a matter of stopping by the post office. I have several people in my neighborhood saving bottles for me.

 

Can I possibly get said woman's whole routine as a seat warmer, please? I'm waiting to go OTR with my husband and I'm curious to hear. Thanks!

 

Make things such as wierd one of a kind keychains, knitting caps, esty kind of stuff.

 

teach her to dispatch and have her dispatch for somebody

 

How is she at writing? For little to no money, she can start her own "travel" blog. Take pictures when you are at places and then she can blog about where you are stopped and tell about interesting things to do in whatever city you happen to be picking up or delivering in. I had a blog that I did for a little over two years while we were OTR. I drove, so I blogged after my shift. Anyway, I didn't have any ads on my page or anything, but I had several followers at one time and even got two of my blog entries into published books. But there are ways to make money blogging. That would be something to think about.

 

Maybe detailing or cleaning while at the truckstop.

 

can she bake? sell homemade cookies, packaged in snack bags, 3 for $1. have a banner made to put across the front of the tractor for when you're stopped. start simple with just 3 kinds of cookies, chocolate chip, peanut butter, and maybe oatmeal.

 

Well, if it was me and my ex-wife, this would be a small sampling of our daily routine...

argue about:
what load to accept
price of load
what route to take
where to refuel
how long refueling took
which lane to be in
if we've been on this road before
which radio station should be on and for how long
the in cab temp setting
where to stop to eat for our 30 minutes
why our 30 minute turned into an hour and 30 minutes
whether the occasional break from talking is acceptable
how long to drive today
if that four wheeler gave her a dirty look
who has sacrificed more for this wonderful opportunity
where to stop for night
which spot to park in
what to eat for dinner
how to spend the remaining hours of off duty time

In addition to the trucking related tasks above, the routine would rounded out with personal discussions, such as me attempting to justify being born with brown eyes, or how the Ebola outbreak is my fault.

Successful spousal team drivers or seat warmers are very impressive to me. I hope you and your husband have one of these types of marriages, and I wish you the best. For me though, it's enjoyable to imagine all the conversations I'll never have to have.
