I was looking for a Trucking company closer to where i live, and was looking at con-way. I got an e-mail from them about their company after I applied. looked good... UNTIL I looked at the team pay. and almost got scared away. before I turn down this job. I will need some clarification. because I hear they pay good from all the reviews i have read. but the e-mail I got said they pay .225 PM for team drivers or a combined .46pm total up to the first 125k miles. right now im getting paid .32pm.

my question is, how is .225 pm mile good pay? getting 125k miles will take me about 7-8 months of driving.

    am i missing something here?

I like the company im with now, the only complaint is my home time. I have to drive 8 hours to get home, and it costs me 200.00 each way. and they don't have a terminal close to where i live.

other than this. I love my job.

Can someone fill me in on the pay for conway.. to help me make an informed decision on them.

.225 is not great for a team, but not terrible either. Remember, you will be making .225 for all the miles that the truck runs, not just what you, personally, drive. So figure 4500-6000 miles per week. $1012.50 to $1350 gross per week. Not to bad IMO.

edit: I do not now, nor have I ever, worked for Conway. Mileage per week estimate is just a guess.

Don't forget your extra nickel and 3 cents for northeast and hazmat. (Half goes to you)

I love that extra pay up there.

Like another days wages at the end of the week and have to drive less time for it.

Right now, I get .32pm + .04 extra for hazmat, I average 4500-6000 miles per week.
its not bad pay... but lots of long hours to get it :p

im just trying to grasp my head around the conway pay scale to see if i will get paid close to the same wages im getting now, or will they be better. ( plus im closer to home with them. a minor pay cut for being closer to home is not bad either as now its costing me 200 dollars each way for home time. plus an additional 8 hour drive. so, after being on the road 12-14 hours, trying to drive home right after i get back to the yard is hard on me. But being smart. I pull off the off ramps and park and get an hour or 2 of shut eye... unless its hot, then im trying to push my way home asap.

This is the ONLY reason im placing the feelers out there. if i find something closer to my home. within 2 to 3 hours, im on it. :)

    Where do you live?

Chances are there's a freight yard 30 minutes from your house... You can leave truck there if you can't take it home with you.

And that's where most of your p&d happens.

Paul ran team and said his ballpark avg was around 5500 a week.

Never ran team myself no plans to do so.

Had a guy that was coming in but they rejected him for a school zone ticket :-/

I'm guessing they would do the .15 cent yearly bonus as half for teams

.3 if you had 10+ yes exp

I run the numbers I actually make more as a solo driver avg 2800 ish than I would as a team.

Terminal to terminal drop hooks is a pud job. They deserve less....Michaels actually gives you accurate step by step directions to stores in Massachusetts for Christ's sake. What's the fun in that!?

So you are solo now? Make sure you really think about team before you make a change. I have never drove team, but I know a lot of people hate it, team only works for the right person/team

If you want to make money, Stay away from Conway. In the last month I was broke down for a week and have only ran 5000 miles. The month before, 7200 miles. If your wanting miles Conway is not the place to be, yes it is a good company to work for if you do not mind sitting for a few days waiting to deliver or pick up a load

ok, after speaking with conway for over an hour, i got it figured out.

the .225 is for full miles not split. If it was split miles i would get .44PM.

since im with CRST and we get .35 pm split. It was how i was looking at conway.

example. CRST i run 2000 miles, I get paid for 1000 miles at .35
ConWay I run the same 2000 miles and get paid 2000 miles at .225 pm <-- this is actuall the better deal, it just dont look it on paper lol plus all tthe bonus miles up to .05 pm paid out monthly. its really pretty good.

but thanks everyone for your help.
