Ok, Moosc. The MAIN POINT being , the driver pays squat. Nada, nothing ZILCH in order to be treated if found to actually have Apnea.
Do you feel better now?

Bottom line, ----
What's the total out of pocket cost to the driver(s)?
-
Zero, zilch, nada ,nutin , Why they dont even ask for the lint in your pocket.
except for the insurance premium, which on the whole is reasonable.AfterShock Thanks this. -
True hell if it wasnt for the alert the health care app tells me about the charge i woukdnt even know about it. Every 90 days a box magically appears with fresh supplies.

If all these companies are worried about quality of sleep, why dont they get with truck manufacturers and have a real bed put in trucks. Not that cheapie "mattress" on a hard aluminum or plastic deck. On another note, a friend of mine got sent for a sleep study. He had to go for a night and sleep monitored by a nurse. We all know apnea is made worse by sleeping on you back. So this nurse kept waking him up every time he rolled on his side or belly. Woke him up 8 or 10 times. Then commented he "didn't sleep well" and "woke up excessively tired"....um, really? Why go through the song and dance, when all they will accept is a positive diagnosis, and do all the can to ensure one.

I fought the idea for yrs. Finally as part of surgical, pre exam, the surgeon recommended a CPAP for better healing ( higher concentration of oxygen in my blood ). Ok,,6 hr sleep test,,no big deal..insurance paid,,,there were 78 "arousals " ( not that kind you perverted drivers lol ) meaning my rest was disturbed over 78 times,,,even little things like a 5 second period of no breathing breaks the sleep cycle.. CPAP solved this and I have never felt more rested or energetic. It took about 3 nights to adjust. My first mask was full face,,lots of Velcro straps, and repositioning to insure good face seal. Newer pillow model is tiny,,and presses gently against my nostrils,,only one band around my head. Only time I dont/can't use it is if I have a head cold with plugged nasal passages,,,even the the machine keeps things unplugged pretty good. There is an SD card that I mail off to my insur co every few months to make sure I am using it and it's not sitting on a shelf, they cover all my rental costs and after 24 months I can own it or upgrade which is what I do. This model has an attached water resouivre that heated and provides humid air in the dry months,,,it's a healthy thing...just take advantage of these tools,,,..drive on !!!

Didn't see this posted on this thread earlier, if it was I apologize. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/reps-sleep-apnea-testing-is-not-mandatory/

Oldman49, it is good that you are getting treatment and it helps you. Most of us aren't saying that apnea isn't a real issue. We aren't saying CPAP is bad, won't help, or shouldntbe used. My arguement is it should be taken care of with your family doctor. Or at least, if the doctor that covered your dot physical don't see an issue, that's that. You shouldn't be forced into it by someone at the company level with no medical training.

Very tired of people trying to convince me Sleep Apnea is real, lol. People are acting as if we're literally ticking time bombs until some quack saves us with a CPAP...
Your last post is a great example of another place obviously fishing for positive testing. That's pretty ridiculous. I thought it was bad enough I was encouraged, and with all the equipment on me, nearly forced to sleep on my back, but being woken up repeatedly to do so is ridiculous. I wish people understood that testing like this isn't rare and companies and these sleep study centers aren't trying to help ANYONE. -
I'm pretty sure those companies and study centers ARE tryin' to help SOMEone. I'm thinkin' they're out to help themselves, and possibly investors, to a heap-0-healthy profits.
I wonder how many elected officials have decided to invest in sleep study centers and/or the manufacturers of the CPAP machines?
I wonder how many of 'em invested in labs that test urine samples, --- just before random testin' became law?
How 'bout helmet makers, --- just before the helmet laws went into effect?
Champagne Payday, ..... and that's not countin' the kick-backs from grateful companies that just needed a little "help" from a friend in high places lookin' to remain in place on high for another term, or two.
On an unrelated note, --- The voters must decide if they want a law mandatin' random drug tests for doctors.
The doctors are whinin' and cryin' 'bout that possibility.
Personally, I'm all in favor, ..... but why stop there? For safety sake, let 'em keep a log-book or electronic logs and limit their workin' hours to 70 hours in 8 days with a 12 hour per day limit on workin', and a minimum of 12 hours Off Duty before punchin' the time-card to an On Duty Status after their rest period.
OH!
And make 'em take a one-hour (minimum) lunch break everyday, --- no exceptions.
If they're in the middle of performin' surgery, tough!
They need to learn how to plan their daily trips better. Poor trip plannin' could cost a patient their life if their surgeon ran outta hours before he/she finished the operation. :smt087
Can y'all just imagine layin' thar on a operatin' table while ol' Doc Sawbones took his 34 hour reset on a golf course?
Let's be fair though, --- just drug test and sleep test EVERYbody.
You know, ...... in the interest of interest, ..... but they'll claim safety, ... as in a safe investment with a high yield.
What's not to like 'bout that? :smt102:smt069:smt112BigBluePeter, Brandson, Blud_Eyed_Devil and 1 other person Thank this.
