You didn't sound cranky, jaso. Just telling the truth. I do think new drivers have unreasonable expectations at first .....until they realize everything that goes with the job. I also think the mega-carriers feed those unrealistic expectations and prey upon those that are naive enough to believe the hype. That's what we are here for ....to tell the unvarnished truth......and we do it quite well! :yes2557: We also do our best to help everyone get a good start.

I think Pete is perfectly nice on the phone, jdmredneck .....don't know what jaso is talking about there .....:biggrin_25525::biggrin_2559:

    Happy birthday HB.

After thinking about what you and HTQ wrote Jaso it does make sense that new drivers could have a false sense of how the industry really is, I am wondering if that issue start in the schools. Now the 1st year lease driver may have believed the hype in the school he went to as they have lease posters all over the school and that could be why he is slightly disgruntled about what his current earnings are, the other could be a bad DM like he was talking about, He is now has Leo though.

I am fine with being low on the totem poll per say starting in a new industry. The situation that I am looking at as my only chance of advancement in my current field would be to move to Pittsburg and work in an office all day long knowing I cannot stand it as I have tried it for about 6 months and I was driving everyone crazy including myself. I have also talked to some trucking families here in town that I have meet who does say the samething that the industry is not easy expecially in the first year. I figure if I can at least come close to the 500.00 take home a week during the first I should be ok, Now I do understand that it may not be that all the time as during slow times it may end up being less, but once the first year is done and my foot is in the door of the industry the options for more start opening up to be able to make more. And as it has been stated hundereds of time before, TA is a starter company so I definatly don't expect much but ability to get at least the initial year in.
