If you can do 2000 miles per week, that is easily done and should put you closer to $600 a week (as a company driver. Not an unreasonable expectation, then again after Christmas it might really slow. The good thing is with us hauling meat, well everybodys gotta eat.

Did my delivery to Bi-Lo early. Finished before 9am (my appointment was at 10am showed up at 0530). As I was leaving the gate, got a swap and a call from my DM. "This new driver is lost and is out of hours and is just down the street from where you are. Ok, I will find him and take care of it." Back here at BiLo over an hour now waiting for a door. When I finish, got to get to a Thermo King as my APUs alternator is not charging my batteries when truck is off. Anyway, this trip has turned into another endless one. Going through all my hotel, cab receipts, tow bills. Whatamess!! The only thing that could be worse is breaking down in a blizzard or a fatal accident. I think. God forbid.

the problem is both dispatch and the driver
it really takes a year to get to know how to manage your hours to the best advantage
with a company like transam that does irregularly routing some of it is guess work
to set yourself up for the next run not knowing what it will be

i am always thinking about my next run before i even deliver this one
knowing i need so many hours to get back to WI from CA
I always get somewhere to take my 10 hour break BEFORE I deliver
so I am the most useful to dispatch for any run they might have

every company has their own quirks how the system works
the more you fit their model the more success you will have

George did you ever get your headset working?
Today mine was flashing red after not charging all night
so I was swearing and throwing stuff
when that didnt fix it I called my son he said go to settings and make sure bluetooth is on
amazingly that worked better then swearing
then Jaso says turn the phone off and reboot it
that gave me back voice recognition
I can communicate with the world again

    oh and Happy Birthday HB

Happy birthday to our badger who loves honey!

I am in Olathe as part of a planned T-call. Have been shagging meat loads from plants in Kansas to TransAm terminals for the last 4 days, can not complain, miles have been fine.

They called me in, I thought to do a PM but it turns out they are pulling my truck out of service. Putting it on the sale block. In transferring trucks I was ask about my "quit date" in the system. It started a discussion. I explained that my job satisfaction had gone downhill since my DM was switched. For the record, I did not throw my DM under the bus, I was very respectful, I took the blame that my attitude was poor due to the change and I may have been the one to sour the relationship. Not really true, my attitude has been poor but I think it has cause but I thought not pointing fingers was was the best way to handle it.

Turns out for some reason, since I am changing trucks, it is not as difficult to change DMs. I now have a new (new to me) T-700 and a new DM. I don't know who yet but I am assured I will now be dispatched out of Olathe. I put off my quit date and will stick around with TransAm ... likely until my next planned leave at the end of the year.

If I remember correctly George you are a company driver so these past couple of week could have been worse for you if you were leasing with everything you have been going through.

I had my APU die in FL in my 700 and two days later was stick for two days in a blizzard with no APU, no bunk heater and having to frequently idle the truck to keep my fuel from gelling! It was not fun!

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. Hometime has been grand so far. I'm glad I got home early because it turns out the guy who does the DOT physicals won't be in tomorrow! But the clinic was nice enough to let me get my physical done today and I will call them to pay tomorrow. :) And I got another 2 year card!

My sweet border collie has been velcroed to me since I got home. Since I got my med card today that frees me up to drop my trailer in the morning and bobtail up to Baker to spend the day at the dog show! I'm looking forward to that because I can socialize with friends without taking away from time with family because the kids will be at daycare and hubby will be working. For my birthday my vape juice order came in yesterday and the guy who owns the company knows my birthday is today and doubled my order to two 120ml bottles of my favorite juice. And I now also have so many Avett Brothers CDs! Badger is on Cloud 9. HTQ, I'm gonna pull out the laptop this weekend and burn some for you too!!!

I pick up Monday at the dog food plant in Tupelo and will take that to Duncan, OK. My DM is setting me up to clear my overhead after HT so paychecks all around! I haven't gone negative due to hometime in a really long time.

Passport, I'm very glad to hear you got a new truck and you're sticking around for a bit!!

You are correct Ghost, I told TransAm the only way I would join would be as a company driver. You are also right my checks are smaller but they are in the black!

I am resigned to the fact that I am not getting home since I started my 14 at 0430 in an attempt to finish early and then have to rescue another BiLo load. Talk about double jeopardy. Why does BiLo unload in phases and not all at once. Guess I only deserved a three day weekend and not a four. Sorry Jungho!!
